275.11 // New Projects Completed in Coronet City

With the ever-increasing population of the prominent and historic world of Corellia, overcrowding is a constant problem. More and more citizens find themselves on the streets, unable to find the security of a humble apartment, leaving children exposed to gangs and spices that run rampant on the lower levels. However, after the passage of the “Homes for Corellia” bill in the Senate two years ago, the Sector X6-1 Housing Projects have at last been completed in the capital of Coronet City, which shares the bulk of the overcrowding dilemma.

The three structures stand as some of the tallest in the area. With their completion, they will be able to house more than 10,000 citizens in what is described as “a simple, yet constructive” environment for singles and families alike. Though the construction cost over 25 million credits, the government is confident that the projects will be able to decrease crime on the lower levels, and increase the safety of thousands.

We will not see the effects of these new housing projects for some time, but we at Galactic HoloNews wish for the ultimate success of this grant of sentient kindness towards those in need of it most.

275.09 // Tell-All Book Reveals Corruption

Most of us remember the public divorce of then-Senator Zen Falknor of Eriadu and his wife and prominent actress Qela Alena several years ago. Though it was apparent at the time that many an odious insult was dealt between the two, Alena’s holobook, to be released in a few days’ time, reveals the underlying reasons for their split.

According to a particular claim smashed in between very colorful language, Falknor would often make deals with lobbyists for incredible amounts of credits, far past the legal procedures conducted by special interest groups. Alena explains that even if Falknor wished for these transactions to be secret, he would pridefully demonstrate his “successes” to her in the form of “extravagant preaching” while in the lone presence of Alena. She confesses that while together she did not wish to reveal her husband’s corruption, their divorce “finally gave [her] the courage.”

Former Senator Falknor has yet to comment on these claims, and though they seem strong, a civil case will be unlikely to surface. Our judicial correspondent Kivio Martel has explained that while there would certainly be cases against Falknor and even Alena herself for conspiracy, such cases are often thrown out due to a lack of evidence and a “tying-up of the courts.” Whatever the outcome though, this shines more light on the apparent dirtiness of prominent figures within our society.

274.18 // Hammok Escape!

It has recently been revealed to GHN via information from Kor Vella Central News, that the infamous criminal, Larns Hammok, has recently escaped imprisonment. Having been locked up for the past five years at Kor Vella’s so called high security prison, the slippy criminal has escaped the clutches of the Kor Vella authorities and his current location is unknown.

Hammok was originally put away for a series of crimes including acts of terrorism towards government authorities for reasons he called and I quote, “abusing the power that comes with government authority”.  In his own words he mentioned that these people needed to be stopped and that he wouldn’t give in until his last breath.

Galactic Alliance authorities are currently on the search for Larns and are confident that with the help of the newly assigned Jedi, Larns Hammok will be put away for good.

273.15 // Galactic Swoop Cup Champion Announced

The sound of the vehicles slashing through the durasteel alleys became almost intoxicating, as the spectators’ eyes were fixed on the finish line. Two rivals came in neck and neck, determined to defeat the other, both as competitors as well as mortal enemies. They approached the line, the other swoops trailing behind laggardly. At an instant, they both slashed through the line in a blur, nobody able to determine the outcome. As the computers eventually found the winner, the crowd fell silent. Jerruq Xarlv would finally bring glory back to Kinyen. Read the rest of this entry »
