CORUSCANT – Republic Intelligence sources have confirmed the arrest of a resistance network operating on Feena, called the “Friends of Lyechusas”. The group, reportedly led by Ael Ar Gall, was linked to a failed prison break aiming to free Kith Trathme previously arrested and awaiting his judgment for high treason.

According to sources on Feena, the operation resulted in significant casualties, including the deaths of at least two resistance members. The Ministry of Purity and Thought claims the arrest of a Jedi in the process and three associates : Shehiem, Kan Zorrus, and Vorle Sewdile. The prisonners were captured by Third Estate forces after being compromised by an unidentified informant.

The Jedi High Council has not issued an official statement regarding any Jedi involvement. A Judicial Department spokesperson noted: “We are aware of unverified insurgent activity in Third Estate territories. Until full investigations are completed, we cannot comment on alleged Jedi participation in non official operations.”

The incident raises troubling questions about Jedi engagement in extrajudicial conflicts. Chancellor Khorta’s office declined to speculate on potential diplomatic repercussions, citing “fluid and unconfirmed intelligence.”

Jedi Knight Gorra Barnos and his apprentice, Padawan Learner Jacik Tol departed from the Jedi temple of Ossus on 462.19 as part of an outreach mission to the planet of Cyrillia. Their goal was to coordinate with local security forces to help effectively curtail rising gang activity on the planet while improving community relations with local Cyrillian populations on the planet.

“Missions like these are exceedingly common among the order, and while there is a certain degree of autonomy granted to knights when choosing and undertaking these missions, they ultimately fall under the authority of their local council,” – Jedi Master, N’leka Yaal from the Ossus Temple said during an interview.

Their mission to Cyrillia was believed to have gone as routine as possible, until a heated pursuit of a small swoop gang takes a tragic turn. On 462.24 , while helping a local patrol sweep through a busy inner city block, Master Barnos and his pupil were able to stop an attempted hit-and-run strike by a local swoop gang known as “Screaming Stars” before it turned deadly. The gangsters, in two groups of six, were reported to have sped into the district in a pair of cargo-grade landspeeders before unveiling their blasters and opening fire on security personnel. The Jedi were able to make use of their lightsabers to shield the security squad from oncoming blaster fire until they could reach cover, and once those security forces were organized and began retaliating, the gangsters panicked and began a hurried retreat.

City surveillance equipment recorded the two Jedi as they split up to chase the two different groups, Barnos hurrying north after one and Tol westward after the other. Tol was seen riding a security speeder bike in hot pursuit of the Stars before disabling their vehicle’s repulsorlift engine, causing it to collide into a corner stall and be rendered inoperable. That is when the situation took a horrifying turn. A camera feed recorded the moment when the group of gangsters scrambled out of their wrecked speeder in a disorienting stupor, clinging to debris from the crash or a nearby wall for support. Padawan Tol approached the group, ignited saber in hand, and as one turned with a hand outstretched to seemingly plea with the Jedi, Jacik Tol raised his weapon and struck down the gangster on the spot. Death was believed to be instant due to the degree of the wound, and the other gangsters immediately cowered in fear, covering their heads and pleading for their lives. It’s at this instant Master Barnos can be seen on security feeds from another section of the city breaking from his own pursuit to immediately race towards Tol’s current location.

This uncanny reaction has been described to media sources as a perceived “disturbance in the Force” that allowed the Jedi Knight to immediately realize something was wrong and race to the site of the incident. Nevertheless, local security forces following Tol in the pursuit converged on his location first to find to their horror a criminal unlawfully executed and a Jedi seemingly descended into an enraged state. The security squadron can be seen on camera attempting to first talk down the Jedi and ask him to disengage. When Padawan Tol stubbornly refused, apparently seeming further incensed by the officers’ attempts to disarm the situation, Sec Sergeant Lilan Druv took a firmer stance, demanding the Padawan turn off his weapon and enter Cyrillian custody.

The situation began to further degrade. Witness accounts state Tol immediately questioned the squadron’s ability to arrest him, and accused them of impeding in the Jedi Order’s mission to the planet. An uneasy silence began to overtake the scene before Master Barnos finally arrived, rushing to Tol’s side to demand that he disignite his weapon and comply with local authorities. This finally compelled the student to obey, and at 2145 GST, Padawan Jacik Tol was officially placed under arrest by Cyrillian Planetary Security.

“By all accounts both Master Barnos and Padawan Sol were upstanding Jedi, and we were happy to work with them. We are still investigating to see what went wrong, and what led to this to prevent further tragedy.” – Captain Ruln of the CPS.

Indeed, nothing from either Jedi’s past seems to indicate any potential for such a terrible act to occur. Both Master Barnos and Padawan Tol served in the Stenax campaign and were decorated for acts of merit during battles on Mossak and Felucia.

“This is a tragedy for everyone involved, and to see an exemplary student take a life so callously breaks the heart. We seek to find the meaning behind this senseless act and rehabilitate Padawan Tol while fully cooperating with local law enforcement.” – The final comments from our interview with Jedi Master, N’leka Yaal.

Padawan Tol remains in Cyrillian custody and it is likely at this point that he will be prosecuted for his actions. No word yet from the Jedi Order on what official action they will take at this time.

Reports confirm a Republic cruiser was destroyed on the edge of the embattled Thanium Sector. The stolen vessel, commandeered by former Jedi Master Kudor Okun, was lost following a Jedi‑led intervention, along with the Sith ordnance seized on Corma.

It is understood both were destroyed before any artillery could be deployed and that the successful Jedi operation prevented what could have been a catastrophic loss of life.

Okun himself was taken alive and transported under heavy guard to Coruscant, where he now faces a suite of grave charges. Republic prosecutors have formally indicted him on: capital homicide, high treason, unlawful seizure of weapons of mass destruction as well as conspiracy and sedition.

Judicial sources indicate additional counts may be added as the investigation continues.

In the wake of the Jedi-led operation, 117 Republic officers and crew members were detained for questioning regarding their involvement with Okun’s plot. Investigators have confirmed that several of these defectors now face similar indictments, including treason and conspiracy, underscoring Jedi Master Amalia Feyn’s earlier warning that the crisis extended far beyond the Jedi Order itself.

While the High Councilor has yet to issue another statement, a spokesperson for the Order confirmed they will co-operate fully with any Republic investigation concerning the incident.

Secretary of Defense Arn Hulos, was stood down earlier this morning, with Chancellor Vekau Khorta issuing the below statement soon after:

It has become clear that trust in the Department of Defence has been shaken. I have therefore deemed it prudent that a replacement be sought. I will leave questions on former Secretary Arn Hulos’ professional judgement to the commentators.

Today’s revelations have left many wondering why so many members of the Republic military chose to defect. As dissatisfaction with Chancellor Khorta’s government continues to plummet, analysts believe his days in the top job are numbered.

A transmission from former Jedi Master Kudor Okun has spread rapidly across the Holonet, igniting fierce debate within the Republic Senate.

The message was first circulated through Jedi-channels before spilling into public networks, featuring Okun denouncing the Republic and Jedi Council as corrupt and complacent. In the recording, he calls upon others to join him in what he describes as a campaign of “courage” against cowardice, claiming to have seized ancient Sith weaponry to aid the Thanium Alliance in its war against the Stenax.

Galactic Core reached out to Secretary of Defense Arn Hulos, who declined to provide operational details but placed responsibility squarely on the Jedi Order.

We are deeply concerned that a Jedi Master would abuse their power and influence in this way. We eagerly await the Jedi Order’s formal response to Master Okun’s actions.

While his remarks stopped short of confirming ongoing military operations, his tone suggested a growing rift between the Republic’s leadership and the Jedi Order.

New information has also come to light that Okun acted with the support of Republic personnel, raising questions about loyalty within the armed forces. Sources have confirmed several defections of high-ranking officers, suggesting deeper fractures within the Republic’s institutions.

During Senate hearings, Chancellor Vekau Khorta did not respond to any questions regarding his past friendship with Okun. Instead, his office released a brief statement reaffirming “full confidence in the Chancellor’s cabinet and the Secretary of Defense” while pledging continued efforts to safeguard the Republic.

The Jedi High Council has yet to issue an official statement. While multiple senior Jedi were approached for comment, only Jedi Master Amalia Feyn responded.

The matter is being actively investigated. We will pursue appropriate action concerning Jedi Master Kudor Okun, and trust the Republic will likewise examine the systemic and institutional shortcomings that facilitated widespread defection.

Her remarks, while measured, have been interpreted by some observers as a subtle rebuke of Secretary Hulos’ attempt to shift blame entirely onto the Jedi.

This war, like all that came before it, has the potential to corrupt and destroy us. I will not force any of you to join it. But if you are to enlist, do it the right way as many Jedi have done – unlike what that Dark Jedi claims.
