286.23 // Mandalorians Prepare to Take Dac

For the past cycle, reports of Mandalorian activity have been few and far between.  However, GHN has learned that Coalition Intelligence have obtained details of a large Mandalorian fleet massing near Caluula.  Our sources believe this fleet is part of a push to take Munto Codru and Dellalt in order to isolate Dac, a critical world to the Coalition war effort and a constant thorn in the Mandalorian’s side since they began their invasion of Galactic Alliance space.

Dac, also commonly referred to as Mon Calamari after it’s more famous inhabitants, has been the subject of several high profile sieges during the course of the war.  Thanks to the tactical ingenuity and resolve of the Mon Calamari people and the Galactic Alliance, all attempts by the Mandalorians to conquer the world have resulted in failure.  However, the continued sieges have taken their toll on the planet’s resources.  The only trade-lane leading to Dac runs through the Pakuuni sector, a region infamous for its pirate activity which has only increased during wartime.  If the neighboring worlds of Munto Codru and Dellalt were to fall to the Mandalorians, all supplies and reinforcements would be effectively cut off.  GHN’s in-house analysts believe that if the Mandalorians are successful in this latest offensive, Dac’s defences will soon fall.

We will report any updates as they occur.

286.21 // SB 776 held up on the Senate floor.

As the war escalates, worlds on the front look to Senator Krackin (Mon Calamari) and his proposed spending bill to increase funding to border worlds on the front.

Unfortunately for worlds such as Mon Calamari, Kalee, and Cadornai, this bill has hit stiff resistance in the Galactic Senate. Senator Krackin had this to say:

“It is unfortunate that some of my colleagues on Coruscant do not feel it is necessary to secure our borders. I am extremely disappointed in many of the representatives, such as Senator Corsh of Bonadan. His assertion that we ‘shouldn’t waste money defending worlds that are difficult to defend’ shows a lack of leadership and a lack of compassion for the galactic citizens he is sworn to protect.

It is my sincere hope that Senator Corsh truly is just fiscal conservative to the point of coldness, and the fact that his home world of Bonadan is a competitor of my home world in the industry of ship building has nothing to do with it. It would be a tragedy to see a Senator allow citizens of the Alliance suffer and die for the purpose of making a profit.”

Senator Corsh had this to say:

“I would expect my honorable colleague to be a bit more open-minded and far more in touch with the requirements of the Alliance as a whole. This is not about a single planet but the Alliance and indeed the Coalition as a whole. If my colleague would like to try and lower the issue to mud-slinging then that really says nothing of his own commitment and position regarding the crisis, does it?”

As the SB 776 looks like its on its way to certain defeat, border worlds can only hold their breath and hope that their days of freedom are not numbered.

286.16 // Your Views: The War

Marlyn Wilsomer, 26, Coruscant, Says:

I think this war is only pushing our peoples further apart. If you ask me we should have surrendered alongside the Common Wealth. We’ve got enough to worry about after what happened on Bakura. Yes, the Chiss are dangerous but it’s too dangerous to keep fighting!

E. Nillis, 18, Brentaal, Says:

This war should have happened sooner. The Chiss were always creepy, and now they released that disease on Bakura. I say we synthesize it and release it on Csilla. The Ascendancy is a blight upon the galaxy, to be sure.

Hermon Graneur, 58, Anaxes, Says:

We need to stop the fighting and come to a compromise that will serve both of our nations. If we keep this up we will wipe each other out.

Eliana Halfstadt, 43, Corellia, Says:

This war has left me fearing for the lives of my children and husband. If we give up now we might have a chance to keep our lives.

286.13 // Cure Discovered: Brings Hope to the Alliance

Amid the fear every heart in the Alliance has been stricken with since the devastating act of bio-terrorism on Bakure, a ray of hope has broken through the fog of doubt. The Galactic Alliance Medical Division (GAMA) has announced that it has developed a cure for the virus that has become to be colloquially refereed to as, “The Blue Death.”

“Our dedicated team of scientists have been working around the clock ever since the discovery of the virus to find the cure,” stated the head of the research team, Sevrina Valentine. “We have taken our first steps towards wiping out this horrendous plague once and for all!”

Despite the discovery of the formula for a cure, sources inside GAMA say that due to the complicated nature of its production, it may be some time before enough of it is available to become available to the mass public.

“For now, it is being reserved for our military personnel in the field,” says Coalition spokesperson Col. Jens Samlon. “We will also be keeping a supply to deploy to any world hit by the virus in a speedy fashion, but for now we just don’t have the resources to every world.”

Though a cure is now available, emergency services personnel are still receiving training galaxy wide on protocol for dealing with potential outbreaks. “I don’t care what the government claims, I’m still afraid for my life,” says Yasmyn Kurn, 23, from Coruscant.

Spokespeople from within the Ascendancy were quick in generating responses to GAMA’s boasting of a cure for the Blue Death. A statement was released from the Office of the Chiss Ascendancy’s Commander in Chief, Tesar’etto’nuruodo. “The discovery of a supposed cure means nothing! The Alliance has far too many world to protect, for too many lives to preserve. We have enough of the weapon to eliminate every last man, women, and child in the Alliance much faster than you can prepare yourselves to defend. Unless the Alliance goes the way of the Commonwealth and surrenders immediately your cities will not be safe. Your children will not be safe. * You * will not be safe. To Chief of State Aquitenne I beseech you for the last name. Surrender peacefully, or your leadership will come to an end through bloodshed.”

Chief of State Caden Aquitenne was not available for comment.

285.29 // Confirmed Reports

GHN LiVE

Confirmed reports of an attack on Coruscant have finally been validated, that have left many neighbouring sectors shaken and fearful, have pointed to the continued war with the Asendancy and Mandalorian armies. It seems that since the Commonwealth surrendered to the treaty of Bakura, the Ascendancy seeked to put a further heavy dent in the Galactic Alliance moral. Claims of a possible operative of a non Chiss race was tasked with the attack which details suggest this was due to be a chemical explosion in the sector, something that most reporters are saying would have take the current casualties to a much higher count. Further more eye witness reports state that the Jedi Order could have been present in an attempt to thwart the attack which hit the sector, though it begs the question of where they received their intelligence and why did the Galactic Alliance fail to act sooner?

Chief of State Aquitenne refused to comment at this time.

Also in other news.

In an unprecedented move of confidence and daring, a pair of Mandalorian fleets launched a joint incursion into the heart of the Galactic Alliance, striking at the Core World of Brentaal IV.

Sitting on the meeting point of both the Hydian Way and the Perlemian Trade Route, Brentaal serves as one of the Cores leading centers of commerce, managing the import of raw materials and consumables from the Outer Rim Territories. Striking down both hyperlanes, the Mandalorian fleets launched a strong and determined assault, causing significant damage to the Alliance fleet protecting the world and also the famous Sel Zonn station orbiting Brentaal IV. While the attacking fleets succeeded in causing considerable damage, Alliance Command can feel small relief in the withdrawal of both fleets once Alliance reinforcements from the Azure Sector entered the system. Despite the Mandalorian withdrawal, all garrisons on Anaxes were placed on full alert.

This most recent of Mandalorian offensives has sent a ripple of panic across a number of the Cores larger population centers, most notably Coruscant, Atrisia, Kuat and Abregado-Rae, with minor riots breaking out across the capital. Chief-of-state Aquitenne has apparently responded to these fears by ordering the increase of ship production at the fleet yards of both Kuat and Corellia, despite the near bankrupt state of the Alliance economy and increasing levels of starvation across the Core.

With the Mandalorians seemingly capable of striking so far into the heart of the Alliance, the number of voices calling for a truce is at an all-time high.

It is unknown if these two seperate attacks was in fact a joint effort but it seems the Ascendacy and the Mandalorian are looking to put even more pressure on the Galactic Alliance in a bid to end this war.
