313.18 // Promises Made as Ashes Fall

In the early hours of yesterday morning, the Capital’s Sky-Rail was engulfed by a fuel-fed explosion which hurled it from the repulsorlift line. A small comfort can be found due to the time at which this incident occurred, as the trade district itself had not yet begun business hours. Despite this, numerous transports have been making their way to local medcenters carrying the bodies of men, women and children injured in the resulting damages.

Although refusing to reveal an exact figure in relation to the causality toll, in response to this catastrophe Chief of Alzoc Security Ikto Lón had this to say,

“Our main objective right now lies with the survivors. Helping who we can, and getting to the bottom of this whole incident. Time is of the essence.”

The Trade District and several surrounding areas have been closed to public access until further notice while rescue and investigation operations are in effect. AlzocSec has given no estimated time in which the areas surrounding the site of the Sky-Rail’s fall will reopen to the public.

Officials also advise anyone who has been exposed to any fallout from the blast to seek medical aid immediately. Medical help is available in any surrounding district at temporary triage clinics and local medcenters. Approach any ASF officer for assistance.

Though the first concern of this HoloNews Network is with those injured and the families of those lost in the crash, it is important to note that the trade district being hit will certainly affect the municipal, and thus, the planetary economic sector. With no foreseeable end to the quarantine in sight it remains a mystery when the cog of commerce will begin to turn again in the Capital.

313.16 // Sky-Rail Disaster

Disaster struck the Capital this morning as the Sky-Rail plummeted into the trading district. It is believed the detonation of two fuel containment units dislodged the vehicle from its path. It has been reported that the Sky-Rail had been transporting ‘vital’ cargo, although the contents of which have yet to be confirmed. A Weequay is currently being held in connection to the disaster. A full analysis as to the extent of the damages is currently under way while the long term impact of this catastrophe is thoroughly assessed.

312.09 // Signs of Increased Militancy in Mandalore Sector

mandofleet_zps5704511f

While the Senate apparently continues to debate over what should be done concerning the growing number of piracy incidents in the Mid Rim and beyond, it appears the Mandalorians are not taking the same reserved approach as the Republic. While indeed the Mandalorians have respected the terms of the treaty that brought a close to the war for a number of years now, there are signs, according to border watch stations, that there are increasing numbers of Mandalorian naval vessels patrolling along the border between their region and Republic space.
There is also an unconfirmed report from a border watch station near Taris and Wayland of Mandalorian vessels crossing the border into Republic territory. If this is true that would place them in direct violation of the peace accords that brought an end to the war roughly two decades ago. While Republic Intelligence is reportedly looking into this claim of vessels crossing the border, it would appear that the Mandalorians at least are not taking this rise in pirate activity lightly.

311.18 // Piracy on the Rise in the Outer Rim Territories

MCQ-mccruiser

Since the conclusion of the war the Republic has been dealing with a sharp rise in piracy across its sectors, especially sectors within the Outer Rim Territories. With a severe economic depression, a downsized navy and military aswell as cut-backs across a number of regional police and security forces, the galaxies black market has thrived, as have smugglers and pirates throughout Republic space.
While the Senate is expected to meet shortly to discuss a means to curb this steady rise in piracy those from the Mid Rim and beyond wish all too well for a swift and sudden end to these steadily increasing illegal actions that are not only disrupting trade and commerce across the outer sectors of the Republic but communications also.
The seeming inaction of the Senate has caused a number of Outer-Rim worlds in recent months to begin to question whether or not to follow the Empire and Hapan examples and secede from the Republic, a government they are apparently beginning to see as no longer being able to take care of its own.

308.21 // Senate In Shock After Imperial Assault On Ascendancy Military Installation

The Empire has made little effort in keeping from the media news of an assault launched by their military today on what appears to have been a Chiss Ascendancy military installation on the world of Ord Janon. While the reasoning for the installations presence has not been revealed, the Imperial military made it blatantly clear that they considered its presence a ‘violation of the treaty of Mygeeto and that any other Ascendancy facilities found within previously held space will suffer a similar fate.’

While the death toll has yet to be revealed, the Empire stated that their new ‘Dark Troopers’ had been deployed in the assault on the Ascendancy base, with Chiss losses considered to be near total with Imperial casualties almost zero. The Ascendancy itself has made no formal comment or statement regarding the attack so far.

Needless to say this news stunned top officials within the Republics own military who are now apparently desperately looking for a possible counter-measure, should these Dark Troopers be used against the Empires former allies.
