298.09 // Caamas Investigated

On 296.23 we reported on the disaster that occured on Caamas. Planetary spokesperson Utor Jjji has issued the following statement:

“Our investigation has lead us to believe that this was a horrific accident. Regardless, the grounds at the epicenter of the destruction have been illegally occupied underground, and we shall seek retribution for the crimes committed against our planet. More information will be made available when uncovered.”

This has confirmed the suspicions of man-made disaster that have been spreading in the region.

Independent experts have clued that the mass destruction may have intruded on a years-old taboo on hypertech research for other means than space travel. No specific ideas were put on the table, but worries have been expressed, and it is obvious that the scientific community has been put on edge.

A spokesperson from the Bothawui planetary government released the following statement on the quickly assembled emergency fleet that has since arrived in the Cirius system:

“Caamas first great disaster, in 19 BBY, was in no small way the result of Bothan activity at the time. The suspicions of this were confirmed years after the infamous Galactic Civil War. Since then, the Caamasi and Bothan people have had a strenuous relationship at best. We hope that the aid we have made available will help strengthen our cultures relationship.”

Will Caamas seek Senate involvement? Will the Military seek to interfere? What failed mastermind is behind this disaster of the decennium? Stay tuned as we update you around the galactic clock.

297.31 // Border Incident

A disruption in the until-now relative quiet from Mandalorian space today as a transport cruiser was shot down today outside the quarantine zone. The ship was reportedly traveling within six parsecs of their territorial space, infringing on the ten parsec buffer established around their systems by Alliance forces during the cease-fire. Officials have only stated that due to the private transport’s violation of this buffer zone, they cannot seek retaliation, or view this as an act of war on the Mandalorian’s part.

The Corusca Folly, a privately registered Corellian Rt-6800 transport vessle, had a crew compliment of three and was reported to be carrying seven passengers. No survivors were found, and scans of escape pods revealed nothing more than the ship’s manifest.
For the sake of our younger audience, and in accordance with HoloNet regulation 17-R260, we will spare the graphic imagry for you. The images we have recieved are violent however, and we can assure you that this attack was as brutal as it was thorough. A full list of the passengers and crew was released to us just hours ago.

297.15 // Shipwright Unions Begin Lawsuit

A group of Corellian shipwright unions have succeeded in obtaining a court date for legal proceedings against the executive board of the Selonian Shipyards, after many cycles of intense negotiation and industrial action. The lawsuit, dated for early next year and supported by high-profile law firm Ghorm, Rilt & Zarkon, aims to force the Shipyards to abandon their long-gestating layoffs scheme which would endanger the livelihoods of up to 1,000 employees.

In a statement to the press, F’lksith, Secretary of Employment for the Selonian Shipyards, said;

“…we have worked long and hard to find common ground with the unions, even to the extent of proposing an entirely new business plan for the next fiscal year. Unfortunately, that effort has been for naught. This latest development is little more than bullying by the unions, who care little for the tens of thousands of our employees who will suffer even more should their demands be met.”

A statement from the unions has yet to be made. It remains uncertain how this drawn-out dispute will unfold, but the impact on trade within the sector is already being felt. The price of replacement components, particularly those manufactured by the Selonian Shipyards, has risen by an average of 6% due to the drop in production as a result of industrial action, and the number of new contracts being signed by the Shipyards has also been affected.

With neither side willing to budge, it appears likely that external intervention may be required before this situation can be resolved. As always, GHN will have the latest updates as they happen.

297.10 // Disaster on Corellia Averted

An attempt at sabotage on a Koensayr transport due for a Corellian facility was prevented through Jedi intervention on 297.04. The cargo carrier was spotted entering Coronet at high speeds but less than a minute into the city witness reports say that the carriers  emergency breaks were activated in time before it could reach it’s destination, preventing any collision. It was said that two Jedi personnel were seen leaving the scene after being spotted talking with CorSec task forces.

The official statement so far notes the interference of one sentient saboteur and one droid extension, of which the memory core is now in CorSec possession. As of yet CorSec has not released the identity of the saboteur, nor any other information regarding the droid.

Should more information be published, we shall keep you posted.
