312.09 // Signs of Increased Militancy in Mandalore Sector

mandofleet_zps5704511f

While the Senate apparently continues to debate over what should be done concerning the growing number of piracy incidents in the Mid Rim and beyond, it appears the Mandalorians are not taking the same reserved approach as the Republic. While indeed the Mandalorians have respected the terms of the treaty that brought a close to the war for a number of years now, there are signs, according to border watch stations, that there are increasing numbers of Mandalorian naval vessels patrolling along the border between their region and Republic space.
There is also an unconfirmed report from a border watch station near Taris and Wayland of Mandalorian vessels crossing the border into Republic territory. If this is true that would place them in direct violation of the peace accords that brought an end to the war roughly two decades ago. While Republic Intelligence is reportedly looking into this claim of vessels crossing the border, it would appear that the Mandalorians at least are not taking this rise in pirate activity lightly.

307.05 // Gree Hypergate Discovered On Alzoc III

Astounding news today in the realm of archaeology as what has been confirmed to be an ancient ‘Gree Hypergate’ was officially unveiled as being discovered on the relatively backwater world of Alzoc I some months ago.

While local and independent archaeological teams initially found the site it was apparently after a team from the renowned ‘Exploration Corp’ of the Jedi Order arrived that progress was made on what was described by one of the lead researchers as an ‘unprecedented scale.’

Not only did the team acting on behalf of the Exploration Corp identify the gate they, beyond all odds apparently managed to get the gate operational, a feat long held impossible by even the Gree themselves today. While what they found at the other end of the gate is classified, what little has been revealed is that both the archaeological teams and the Exploration Corps have poured significant resources into exploring the site beyond the gate and supposedly establishing a research site there.

While it is not entirely known just how the Jedi who activated the gate managed to, it is known that Jedi Knight ‘Delmi N’jork’ is the one held with the most credit by those of his peers that were present with getting the gate operational.

While it is still not known just what they found on the other side of the gate, just where the gate linked to or indeed if it can yet be linked to the remainder of the Gree Hypergate network, what is known is that this is without a doubt one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of the past several centuries.

306.05 // Man Hands Landspeeder Over To Thief

It has been reported that a local man from Bestine has turned up at the head quarters of the local authorities claiming that his land speeder had been stolen yesterday afternoon. While this may sound like your typical case of theft, the authorities were left baffled after checking near by security footage only to find that the victim was seen handing over the land speeder to a stranger before watching him take off.

After seeing the footage, the man is said to have been extremely confused and agitated by what had truly happened. The authorities are said to still be questioning him and have even gone as far as to consider bringing in a psychological expert.

With no witnesses at the scene the authorities can only go with what the security footage has shown and the statement from the victim, but sources say this has left them baffled and with hardly no evidence at all to pursue the thief.

302.20 // Body found in the streets of Alzoc’s Capital City.

There has been yet another disturbance within the heart of the Alzoc III Capital, when at approximately 1500-GST, the corpse of a Human Male came crashing through the west booth of the Drunken Droid – One of the more prominent Cantinas in the City.

Alzoc Security were alerted immediately and have since barricaded the booth for further investigation.
One of our reporters was able to capture an image of the victim before being quickly removed by security.

The body is yet to be identified by authorities and what caused the initial fall is unclear.
Several eye-witnesses claimed to have seen a blaster hole emblazoned on the left side of the victim’s head, though no official response has been made to this claim.

One patron has described the event as “worryingly commonplace”. This is in reference to an earlier incident back in 295.ABY when a Gran fell from the Landing tower through the east booth of the same Cantina.

Alzoc Security have promised an official statement in the coming days to announce the results of their investigations. More on this, still to come…

298.24 // Supply Convoy for Tatooine Attacked

The hastily dispatched Senatorial Supply Convoy aiming to assist residents of Tatooine by delivering much needed supplies was interdicted and attacked by unidentified ships on the Corellian Run between Druckenwell and their destination.

According to official reports, the unidentified fleet was able to take the largely undefended convoy by surprise through use of an Interdiction field- a military grade technology used to produce artificial gravity wells in order to prevent the use of Hyperspace or draw ships from Hyperspace into real-space. Before being boarded the freighter convoy managed to report the attack and the hull number of a single assailant, but the nearest Alliance security force was located in orbit around Corellia and arrived only in time to be greeted by a debris field.

The freighter convoy is assumed to be lost with all hands. Scanning the remains of the ships comfirmed that the attackers had looted the weapons and ammunition that was meant for Tatooine’s defense.

An Alliance spokesman had this to say on release of the news regarding the attack;

“The incident is a tragic, painful, and brutal reminder of the dangers that Outer Rim space hold for the honest efforts of the Alliance, private business, and the average citizen space-farer. Currently it is our belief that mercenary corsairs are behind the attack. Perhaps mistakes were made in hastily extending a hand of assistance to a dangerous region of space, but the extension of that hand is by no means a mistake and we will make certain of the success of our mission. These opportunists, that show little regard for life and peace, will answer for their crimes against the Alliance and the citizens of Tatooine.”

A crime against the citizens of Tatooine indeed, as the desperate defense force now has to wait even longer for much needed relief. The Galactic Alliance Navy pledges support to any further supply convoys bound for Tatooine in order to ensure that the next group these pirates web may be more than they bargain for. Recent events leave us wondering whether the future of Tatooine belongs not to us, but to its mysterious and marauding natives.

On a related note, Alliance officials have recommended civilian space traffic set courses to steer clear of the Corellian run between Druckenwell and Ryloth for the time being. Naval patrols and officials are on the lookout for an unnamed ship with the following Hull Number: HCC-334.

Planetary governments of Ryloth, Melida/Daan, and Alzoc III are advised to maintain a watchful eye as their planets have become a favorite entry point for stolen goods into the black market.
