279.14 // Mandalorians Engage Jedi Order, Galactic Alliance

Mandalorian Attack

An Alliance Frigate Under Fire from Mandalorian Battleships

This just in. We have several confirmed reports that the Galactic Alliance has suffered a stunning defeat at the hands of the Mandalorians within the Yavin system in the Outer Rim Territories. Making contact at 1600 Galactic Standard, the Alliance fleet was completely decimated after an hour of engagement, as the surprise invaders apparently made their way to the planetary satellite of Yavin IV following their victorious enterprise.

It is unknown how the stationed Jedi managed to fare against the Mandalorians, but all signs point to complete destruction. Though our information is currently humble amongst the shock, the office of the Chief of State promised the press and the citizens of the Galactic Alliance a quick address once all avenues of information have been explored. Stay tuned.

279.10 // Voting Closed, Chief of State Aquitenne Expected to Expel Jedi Order

Senate Vote

Caden Aquitenne at the Galactic Senate Building

You are looking live at Chief of State Caden Aquitenne at the spire of the Galactic Senate Building on Coruscant, in the heart of the Galactic Alliance. Following the grievous findings by the somewhat controversial Jedi Review Board of murder, deceit, and what was described as “countless indiscretions against galactic society”, the Jedi Order is likely to be expelled from the territories of the Galactic Alliance according to various inside reports. Here is Chief Aquitenne to announce the results of the vote and, as mostly expected, to make one of the defining proclamations in the history of the Galaxy.

The time for voting has come to an end. In the previous suffrage in regard to J10960, the Senate has passed the motion, with 68% approval. Dissent is noted with a 22% disapproval, and an abstention of 10%. With my immediate approval as the executive of this body, I adjudge to steadfastly banish the Jedi Order from Federal territories, granting full effect to this expelling upon the date of 279.15. Until that time, the Jedi Order is encouraged vacate peacefully from all systems of the Galactic Alliance in order to grant our citizens the peace and security they deserve. Failure to do by that date will result, according to the new law, in armed response. It is with a heavy heart that I see a once-just institution fall so hard from grace, but my sentiments lie stronger with my own people. Let this body adjourn.

And there it is. Sounds of applause echo the feelings of condemnation against the Jedi Order, as no doubt many citizens of the Alliance have sighed with content at the decision to deflect any possible association with the ancient institution. The questions now evolve into how the Order itself will react to this declaration, and if they do decide to leave on their own accord, where? Will the Mandalorian people keep their promise of justice once the Jedi depart? Is there any conceivable chance that the Order will choose war with the Galactic Alliance? Only time will tell.

279.08 // Jedi Review Board Closes, Vote Expected Soon

The Galactic Senate Building on Coruscant

The Jedi Review Senatorial Committee finished its investigative research and deliberations today, apparently coming to a decisive conclusion regarding the alleged crimes of the Jedi Order. While no member of the board would speak at full liberty regarding its conclusion, Senate Majority Whip Ghaj Nhka was, as always, quite eager to provide moderate insight into the matter, as our own Melina Pelota caught up with Senator Nhka outside of his personal office. Here’s what the Senator had to say:

… All I can say is that our citizens will be very happy with the board’s conclusion. While we faced troubles with bias on this board, my fellow colleagues remained committed towards bringing justice and due process for the Jedi, and in the end this is all we can and should expect from them. Therefore, I can say with a large degree of certainty that this ultimate conclusion is legitimate in every way, shape, and form.

It seems all signs are pointing towards a negative declaration against the Jedi Order in the near future, as reports say a call for a vote will come within a few days following the return of many senators from the campaign trail. However, the actual magnitude of this supposed “punishment” of the Jedi Order remains the main topic for debate, as sympathy for the institution still has life within the seats of the Senate. In any case, Galactic HoloNews will be broadcasting this pivotal vote live from the Senate Building as soon as it is announced to the media.

Welcome to a special alert from GHN LiVE. At this very instant, a multitude of reports have stampeded in, proclaiming that the Commonwealth has defeated a prominent Chiss expansionary fleet at Bimmiel. While we lack official confirmation from military heads on Naboo, these reports seem to be genuine due to their sheer numbers.

If true, this would signify the first major victory over the Ascendancy by defensive forces. It is likely that once n– … Pardon, we now have confirmation that the Commonwealth has indeed found victory over the Ascendancy at Bimmiel! We have received an issuance from Commonwealth Naval Command on Naboo regarding its victory. It reads…

Our great military has at last shined through within a period of despair today at Bimmiel. At roughly 1500 hours standard, our fleet engaged the Chiss Ascendancy in orbit, finding itself in a prime position for victory. After less than three hours, the enemy was destroyed, and all remaining vessels in great retreat. We commend these heroes for their actions, and assure that the citizens of Bimmiel will be completely liberated pending inevitable surrender. This news was made possible by our great technicians at Telos, who came through where the Galactic Alliance finds itself reluctant.

Certainly a very newsworthy report in regard to the war in the Outer Rim. Galactic HoloNews will stand by diligently as new developments arise. Now, back to your regularly-scheduled programming.

279.03 // Bn’al Rhomitkal Resigns As Chief Consul of Jedi Review Board

The Galactic Senate Building on Coruscant

Yesterday, an investigation by the Galactic Insider watchdog organization uncovered previously unknown encoded audio bytes. Once decoded, they revealed a conversation between Bn’al Rhomitkal, an aide, and two other Senators serving with him on the Jedi Review Board, Janis Mikov of Opiteihr and Cyril Kaleth of Fondor. A segment of the transcript is as follows:

Rhomitkal: It’s clear…to allow (inaudible) to testify before the Board would be detrimental to what we are trying to achieve.
Aide: (inaudible)…would not be necessary in that case.
Rhomitkal: So…what we’re saying is…to show the Jedi are at the root of the problem, it is necessary to…(inaudible), that is to say, reinterpret the law to better fit it to this scenario.
Kaleth: It seems as though if the Jedi continue their unruly behavior, we will soon find ourselves at odds with not just one threat, but two.
Mikov: Not to mention the populace when the polls open.
Aide: The situation would call for much harsher measures if not for the high degree of concentration on the Board.
Mikov: Yes, but what is the Jedi Order really going to do about it?
Rhomitkal: For now, we need to focus on putting the Board in a position to achieve what we want. Then, we can deal with the ramifications later.
