279.28 // Ascendancy Turned Back at Lvcam

Lvcam

The Planet of Lvcam

In defiant fashion, Coalition forces have pushed the invading Chiss Ascendancy from the southern territories of the Commonwealth. This comes as a surprise to most military analysts, given the supposed might of the invasionary fleet, in addition to the relative indefensibility of the system. Though Coalition commanders would not comment directly about their means of success, hints were seemingly dropped that they had a tactical advantage in the form of “men on the inside”, possibly denoting the use of sabotage and/or espionage in the surprising victory.

Nevertheless, the gambit of invading the major territories of the Commonwealth speaks volumes about the perceived ambition of the Ascendancy. With Serenno crumbling in its own defenses, it seems that the Chiss have more than an ample supply of confidence in their ultimate ability to conquer the remaining systems of the North, given the fact that a second front would have possibly been opened if the tables were turned at Lvcam. Concurrently however, it seems Coalition forces have proven to have the means of standing up in the face of the enemy, even despite facing more defeats than victories at the present time.

Amidst lines of speculation and analysis, one point of discussion is consistently short for debate. There appears to be no end to this galactic conflict in the near future, and that we as citizens must prepare for the potentialities of great loss, in addition to hopeful success.

Taris

The Skies of Taris, Several Hours After Mandalorian Defeat

The most recent news on the warfront comes out of Taris, where a Mandalorian fleet has been crushed under the defensive might of Coalition forces in orbit over the populous world. Despite the apparent numerical equality of contending warships on either side, anti-spacecraft fire on the surface of the planet culminated swiftly with intelligent maneuvering, forcing the invading fleet to retreat back within the confines of Mandalorian space.

However, not all news is good for the newly reformed Galactic Coalition Military, as several ill-defended worlds continue to fall under the persistent attacks by the Mandalorians, most recently in the form of the Jedi-inhabited planet of Ossus. While the loss of such systems are not critical in the eyes of the Coalition, planetary resources and communications will inevitably be missed in significant fashion, as multiple sectors will forcefully switch allegiances under the very real fear of annihilation.

Meanwhile, a significant occurrence in its own right has been reported in the form of Chiss forces invading the Commonwealth planet of Lvcam. This marks the first planet to be invaded within the territories of the main Southern Commonwealth, seemingly giving way to a potential second front of war on the galactic scale. Prime Minister Selanne recognized the maneuver during an address to parliament regarding defense funding earlier in the day:

The war has now been placed on our front door, and in such I implore [the representatives] to no further pretend that we are secure in our domestic holdings. It is imperative that we close this new front with nothing less than a stalwart defense.

In final noting, the Jedi Order remains quiet in its current allegiances within the context of war, but nevertheless maintains communication with several representatives of the Senate, in addition to alleged Coalition Military heads on Coruscant. If the Jedi Order is to be swayed into participation, it will require a complete turn of the heel on the part of Chief Aquitenne in rescinding the still technically present order of exile, in conjunction with a re-vote of the Senate for Jedi re-approval. Sufficed to say, all remains awkward in more than dubious conditions for both sides.

279.21 // Ascendancy Engages Coalition, Expands Conquest to Alliance Space

Following a formal declaration of war, the Ascendancy has responded fortuitously against the allied Coalition, effectively expanding its number of conquered systems by three in the forms of Bimmiel, Sernpidal, and Belkadan within the past standard days. This success of conquest finds significance, in that the surprising re-conquest by the Commonwealth at Bimmiel has now been turned over on its side, in addition to Belkadan being the first conquered Alliance system at the hands of the Ascendancy.

While there is no current formal declaration of war on the joint part of the Ascendancy and the Mandalorian war machine against the Coalition, military leaders have seemingly bypassed all formal pleasantries and instead assumed to be in the direct faces of the enemy. Coalition and Alliance Admiral Sisko Terissen commented on the situation:

We (The Coalition) are dedicated towards pushing the bloodeye and Mandalorian menace back into their respected territories and liberating our people from their dishonorable grasp. Rest assured from that point on we will seek to punish these dissidents into a point of minimal submission — and maximum destruction, in order to achieve galactic justice.

Despite the confident speech by Admiral Terissen, the looming fact remains that Coalition forces are finding difficulty in maintaining a foothold in their defense. If the war is to end in short time, the allied military will be strictly obliged to find a chain of significant victories against the invaders, returning the favor that they are currently receiving themselves.

Coruscant

Coruscant, Heart of the Galactic Alliance

Following the rapid loss of Alliance systems in the Outer Rim at the hands of Mandalorian forces, Chief of State Caden Aquitenne of the Galactic Alliance met with Commonwealth Prime Minister Paol Selanne on Coruscant in order to discuss the future of their nations. In the tight company of defense secretaries and military heads, a decision to reform the Galactic Coalition Military eventually seized the minds of all present, as the motion soon found its way to both represented congresses. With unprecedented quickness, both the Alliance Senate and Commonwealth Parliament agreed in great majority not only to combine military might, but to formally declare war on the Mandalorian war machine and Chiss Ascendancy in unison.

Despite the bitterness of the Commonwealth towards the Alliance in regard to its position of disobligation in combating the Chiss, all past insults have seemingly dissipated following the meeting on Coruscant. Prime Minister Selanne commented compendiously:

Let us leave behind trivialities of the past in order to maintain a future for our people.

With the resurrection of the Galactic Coalition, it is unknown if other entities, such as the Hutts, will join the militaristic cause. Moreover, the position of the Jedi Order remains the most intriguing, as it  has undoubtedly found itself in a confounding position of oblivion. Once finding itself in the face of exile, it now stands on a mantle of both limbo and wonder, as citizens re-evaluate their past condemnations of the ancient institution. There now simply remains a question of how far the forgiveness of the Jedi shall reach, if at all, to the other citizens of the Galaxy.

Chief Aquitenne could not comment in great detail about the supposed plans to be carried out by the various military forces, though adamantly attempted to imbue confidence into potentially-threatened Allied systems by wishing citizens to “stand strong” and “bear down” in the wake of violence.

Meanwhile, there has been little official comment on the status of the Jedi Order within Alliance space. While we are now well-past the evacuation deadline of .15, field reporters have nevertheless documented that the Jedi Temple on Coruscant still retains a hearty population, and that there were even rumors of Jedi returning to the premises via various shuttle arrivals. Still, all reports remain skeptical unti– …
