280.18 // Northern Commonwealth Dissolved as Ascendancy Maneuvers Past Bastion

Kalee

The Planet of Kalee

At 1100 hours standard, government heads on Naboo announced the official loss of Commonwealth control on the opposite side of the relatable Outer Rim. Coming well-short of a surprise, the news was nevertheless received on a somber note, as Prime Minister Selanne remarked in a public address:

It is a trying day for us all. To have given all possible effort to a cause that was nothing less than pertaining to patriotic duty– and to only fall short– is an unfortunate burden, indeed. This will not however affect our ultimate resolve. I wish our subjugated citizens strength and resolve to hope that we may one day liberate them from the unabated terror of the Ascendancy.

On the other side of conquest, Ascendancy fleets have seemingly outmaneuvered the defenses of the Coalition and have effectively started a campaign on the planet of Kalee, albeit in less than overwhelming fashion. While Bastion is not yet lost, the Ascendancy has nevertheless baffled the Coalition in the seemingly perfect execution of enemy movements. Some speculate that new hyperlanes may be the key for the Chiss, while others say that the Coalition is simply poor in matching the power and discipline of the Ascendancy due to a lack of prominent understanding.

Whatever the cause, it is imperative for the Coalition to make a series of definitive, and perhaps consecutive stands against the offensive might of the enemy, lest further territories and resources be lost.

With several reports of significance hitting our newsports by the minute, we’ll be bringing you the facts without the spin here on GHN LiVE, sponsored by Multycorp Industries. Here’s the most up to date information straight from the warfront:

Galactic City, Coruscant – The Galactic Coalition Military has at last gained a substantial ally today in the form of the Jedi Order. According to official reports, the leading Council of the Order has agreed to allow voluntary commissioning of its subordinates into the Coalition, providing a potential shift in ability for its defending troops. Military officials speculate that Jedi may be seen on the battleground as soon as next cycle.

Ravelin, Bastion – The tides of battle have shifted to the Ascendancy, as troops have reportedly penetrated the outskirts of the capital. This news comes amidst a weakening of orbital Coalition defense following a re-enforcement of Chiss warships. In the system’s current state, surrounding planets will now likely be exposed to substantial invasion as the Coalition continues to search for its bearings in the sector.

Thani, Telos IV – Surrender talks have been rumored to be underway as the last presence of the Commonwealth in the northern territories is on the brink of extinction. If true, the systems of Telos and Mirial will serve as the marking point of the original goal of conquest for the Chiss Ascendancy.

Coral City, Mon Calamari – Reports indicate that Mandalorian forces have been repelled definitively at Mon Calamari following a crushing naval defeat. The planet serves as one of the chief manufacturers of warships for the Coalition, as well as a powerful point of defense in of itself. Coalition leaders appear confident of a future counter-offensive strategy being implemented at both Mon Calamari and Taris in the coming cycles.

Grunnrurr, Kashyyyk – After several tumultuous years, the elusive Trandoshan rebel General Crerniss has been captured following a long and arduous search in the thick forests of Kashyyyk. This brings a long-awaited end to the internal conflict within the Alliance that has persisted for over three standard years.

280.14 // Breaking News — Jedi Ban Lifted with Blessing of Galactic Senate, Chief Aquitenne

The Galactic Senate Building on Coruscant

Where many thought the Galactic Senate was too prideful to turn its back on such a bold decision, others deduced that desperate times would call for a slice of humble pie. Yes. The powerful Galactic Senate, in the heart of the grand Galactic Alliance, has officially amended Measure J10960, effectively terminating the formal banishment of the Jedi Order from federal territories.

The move marked one of the quickest amendments made in the history of the Galactic Alliance. With 68% of Senators (mostly new representatives) voting in favor of lifting the ban, the ultimate executive decision found itself laying in the large hands of Chief of State Caden Aquitenne– the figure who denounced the Jedi Order so somberly that many commented that he appeared as a jilted lover, forever denied the amorous embrace of his former soulmate. With a face that initially appeared reluctant, a look of conviction ultimately took over the powerful president as he stoically announced the agreeable decision in favor of the Jedi Order.

Taking effect immediately, the amendment ceases the state of uncertainty formerly experienced on the part of the Jedi Order, which was best-exemplified by its remaining presence on Coruscant. Most analysts agree that the uncertain news coming from Bastion ultimately swayed undecided political figures to bite the blast and once again allow the Jedi legal operations within the Alliance.

Many hope that this re-legalization of the Jedi Order will also bring about the military commissioning of many of its members in the Coalition. While there are several conflicting reports, a majority seem to point to the Jedi Order making a tentative partnership with the allied force in the near future. Time, as well as remaining sympathies, will ultimately tell.

280.13 // Dor’shan Murderer Captured on Battlefield?

Chiss Jedi

Former Jedi Possibly Seen on Bastion

Amidst the chaos on Bastion, an intriguing possibility may have possibly been unearthed on the battlefields surrounding the city of Fel. The above photo (enlargeable), taken by a retreating soldier, depicts what seems to be a Chiss Jedi striking down a Coalition officer during engaged warfare. Though blurred from rapid movement, the picture may indeed show the first documented sighting of Rinne’selen’omare, exiled Jedi and infamous figure of the Dor’shan relief effort some years ago.

As some viewers may recall regarding the effort on Dorin, the ex-Jedi Knight was witnessed murdering five Kel Dor citizens in an apparent act of revenge for a fallen comrade. Despite strenuous efforts to find him, the murderer escaped unapprehended as perceptions of the Jedi Order took a substantial hit following the unfortunate debacle. With this potential sighting however, it seems Rinne’selen’omare, or Eseleno as he was often referred to, found refuge amongst the Ascendancy and has subsequently re-emerged as a commander of its forces.

To provide insight to the situation, GHN asked for and received comment from Coalition High Command regarding the recent sighting on the battlefield:

We have been told over the past cycle from a particular militia force that a Chiss Jedi was operating in the defense of an air turret, but our forces could provide no distinct proof. In addition, there have been even more cloudy rumors of the same Jedi being sighted across the Northern Commonwealth territories in the past that were swiped aside as nonsense. However, with the recent confirmation from our Colonels in the field, we have realized this individual to both exist and furthermore be in need to be held as a prominent threat to our potential success on Bastion.

The presence of a Jedi on the battlefield has long been documented as a significant force to combat due to innumerable factors throughout time. With this present news surfacing across planets throughout the Alliance and Commonwealth territories, the Jedi Order must undoubtedly hear a more dire calling for its needed assistance in this tumultuous war.

280.11 // Bastion Presented as the New Face of War, Coalition Continues its Reach for Support

Bastion Turret

A Bastion Air Turret, Point of Tactical Advantage

Reports indicate that the current focus of Coalition defensive efforts lies in the Braxant Sector, most notably at the historic planet of Bastion. Here, Ascendancy forces have engaged in a tumultuous struggle for the pivotal system that has affectively resulted in total warfare. With constant warring both in orbit and on the surface of the planet, civilians of the planet have been called into service into regulated militia service, as well as going as far as forming unregulated militias in order to combat the substantial forces of the Ascendancy.

Within this gritty battle lies the importance for the Coalition to make a stand similar to its showing against Mandalorian forces on Taris. If Bastion is to fall, it can be expected that systems in proximity will also find themselves invaded, resulting in a larger front spanning across much of the Outer Rim Territories. Much of the potential success allegedly lies in the retention of the many air turrets positioned around the planet that control the transportation of troops around the many surfaces of the planet.

Meanwhile, efforts at persuading the somewhat dubious Hutt governance to join the forces of the Coalition have at this point failed, according to Major General Sol Varan. While talks with the Hutts never found a solid standing, efforts with the Jedi Order have been found to have more leadway, as the reformed Senate becomes more hospitable towards the mending of a recently large wound created between the two institutions. With the constant support of military leaders, we may perhaps see the eventual participation of the Jedi Order within the greater context of galactic war.
