298.20 // Continued troubles for Tatooine…

Tusken attacks on Tatooine continue to escalate at an alarming rate, but due to the planets absence from a recovering Alliance not much support has been spared to help calm the chaos now raging across it’s sands. However, the Senate did not completely rule out stepping in and agreed to send required resources to aid the Tatooines’ thinly spread Security Forces. Across most of it’s major cities Security Forces are set out to repel on going attacks by Tusken Raiders, the largest it’s seen in some years. Though as the numbers of Tatooines’ defenders dwindle after each skirmish, it’s representatives are becoming increasingly desperate for help. Rumours have it though, that they may be intending on approaching none other than the Jedi Order for assistance in quelling the savage Tusken Raiders and putting a stop to the destruction and deaths left as a result of every attack.

This leaves the question of exactly what the Jedi Order may be able to do for Tatooine, considering that the Order is going through a recovery of it’s own after the War. Though, considering it’s only other alternatives it seems that Tatooines’ ruling body may have no other choice but to plead it’s case to the Jedi in hope that they lend it’s Jedi Knights to defend it’s cities and assist with any on going negotiations directed at bringing an end to the terror faced by it’s populace.

298.16 // Mos Osnoe Massacre, and An Unlikely Break-Up?

Reports are coming in of an attack which took place on the city of Mos Osnoe, on the planet Tatooine. Sources say this seems to be a deliberate action taken by none other than the Tusken Raiders , commonly referred too as the Sand People by the inhabitants of Tatooine. We have no information as to why they decided to attack the city of Mos Osnoe, but sources also say that there has been a number of attacks actioned by the Tuskens across the deserts of Tatooine on a few random locations.

Many of the residents of Mos Osnoe were killed in the attack, but many more survived thanks to the actions of security forces put together and consisting of actual local authorities and any person able to hand a weapon of use against the would be attackers. Even though their own casualties were excessively high, they managed to keep the Tuskens back long enough for civilians to escape from the city during the raid.

…..

We interrupt this broadcast to bring you breaking news from Coruscant South-West. Now going to Rin Jaicup live on the scene! Why don’t you tell us what’s going on down there Rin?

Well Ular, if you look behind me you’ll see that I’m standing in front of the old Southwest CivSec building, where Kortuvva is being held in custody. Reports are sketchy right now, but eye witness reports are coming in stating that at around twenty-one thirty local time, Kortuvva was seen climbing the walls of buildings, swinging from service wires, and shouting slurs and epithets about..wait a moment, is this right?

::Rin looks off-camera for a moment, a quizzical look on his face::

I’m being told by our translator droid that she was actually singing slurs and epithets about a ‘soft-bellied chiptooth’. She was shortly thereafter arrested outside the Azure Dianoga Cantina wearing some sort of wet cape.

I’d to point out quickly that none of this is very unusual behavior for the artist. Her track record of causing a public commotion over some sort of personal grievance…hold on, we’re going to break right now for a statement from local Chief Esslen.

::The camera pans to the right, framing a heavy-set Mon Calamari with quivering jowls that shake as he speaks::

“…would like to make it perfectly clear right now that the only charges Kortuvva are being pressed with at this is that of disturbing of the peace. We cannot track the source of the cape she was wearing, but we can confirm that it did at one point belong on the body of a Trandoshan male. Apart from that we have no comment, and investigators will be beginning their inquiries imminently. Thank you for your time.”

::The display returns to Rin, his mouth left slightly agape for a moment before regaining his composure::

As you can see Ular, it’s been a very busy night for Kortuvva. We’ll be making inquiries of our own with Blackscale to see if he can shed any kind of light on these developments. For now, this is Rin Jaicup with GHN Media, back to you.

298.09 // Caamas Investigated

On 296.23 we reported on the disaster that occured on Caamas. Planetary spokesperson Utor Jjji has issued the following statement:

“Our investigation has lead us to believe that this was a horrific accident. Regardless, the grounds at the epicenter of the destruction have been illegally occupied underground, and we shall seek retribution for the crimes committed against our planet. More information will be made available when uncovered.”

This has confirmed the suspicions of man-made disaster that have been spreading in the region.

Independent experts have clued that the mass destruction may have intruded on a years-old taboo on hypertech research for other means than space travel. No specific ideas were put on the table, but worries have been expressed, and it is obvious that the scientific community has been put on edge.

A spokesperson from the Bothawui planetary government released the following statement on the quickly assembled emergency fleet that has since arrived in the Cirius system:

“Caamas first great disaster, in 19 BBY, was in no small way the result of Bothan activity at the time. The suspicions of this were confirmed years after the infamous Galactic Civil War. Since then, the Caamasi and Bothan people have had a strenuous relationship at best. We hope that the aid we have made available will help strengthen our cultures relationship.”

Will Caamas seek Senate involvement? Will the Military seek to interfere? What failed mastermind is behind this disaster of the decennium? Stay tuned as we update you around the galactic clock.

297.31 // Border Incident

A disruption in the until-now relative quiet from Mandalorian space today as a transport cruiser was shot down today outside the quarantine zone. The ship was reportedly traveling within six parsecs of their territorial space, infringing on the ten parsec buffer established around their systems by Alliance forces during the cease-fire. Officials have only stated that due to the private transport’s violation of this buffer zone, they cannot seek retaliation, or view this as an act of war on the Mandalorian’s part.

The Corusca Folly, a privately registered Corellian Rt-6800 transport vessle, had a crew compliment of three and was reported to be carrying seven passengers. No survivors were found, and scans of escape pods revealed nothing more than the ship’s manifest.
For the sake of our younger audience, and in accordance with HoloNet regulation 17-R260, we will spare the graphic imagry for you. The images we have recieved are violent however, and we can assure you that this attack was as brutal as it was thorough. A full list of the passengers and crew was released to us just hours ago.
