Yesterday the senate approved the legalization of Podracing with a 67.3% vote of approval. Senator Shaildka of Malastare, who had originally lobbied for this action is “Delighted with the news” telling GHN;

“I am more than pleased with how this vote turned out. I look forward to making Podracing the exciting sport it was centuries ago.”

For the first time in over a century, the Galactic Credit is down by more than 8 Percent. The unprecedented fall, at 15 Percent, could cost many financial district workers their jobs. The senior partner at The Bank of Coruscant,  Mr San Hill VII from Muunilist, has resigned after issuing the following public apology;

Some serious mistakes have been made over the last five years that have lead to this difficult situation. Many of those mistakes were made under my watch. I have no excuses but hope that in time, history will tell both sides of the story and recognise that these mistakes were made under exceptionally difficult circumstances. That is all.

Podracing had been a popular sport in many less-developed worlds across the galaxy, particularly in the outer rim before it faced its ban so long ago. The dangerous sport was outlawed shortly before the outbreak of the Clone Wars due to its extremely high level of risk to the racers’ involved. Many of the popular racers of the time were taken into custody for a number of crimes also leading to the sports downfall in popularity.

While many remain confused about the possible motive behind the terrorist attack that took the lives of seven million civilians three years ago, the galaxy is united in it’s resolve to eradicate terrorism. Significantly the Galactic Alliance and The Peoples Commonwealth are joint funding a new City for Bespin that will become a shining beacon of commerce and symbol of galactic freedom. ‘New Cloud City’ will homage it’s predecessor while exploiting the countless technological developments made since it’s construction.

The Economy, rejuvenation projects and galactic security were at the top of the senates agenda this conference after the recent pressures from the Bothan Sector and Ithorians had featured so prominently in Galactic News. The Bothans, still heavily critical of the Late Megana Tin’s revolutionary economic policies had expressed a growing disenchantment with the direction of the GA in wake of Military cutbacks. The Chief of State Benjamin Dama remained stoical as he continued to adhere to Tin’s financial plans and has continued to pour money into education and urban redevelopments across the Galaxy despite the barks of his critics.
