378.06 // Galactic Governors provide aid where Chancellor fails.

Pandemonium grips the Galaxy, strikes and riots are being reported from the lower levels of Coruscant, to the trading guilds of the Hydian Way. Manufacturers and business owners are closing their doors, firing workers or cutting pay drastically. After days of seclusion upon hearing the disastrous news, Chancellor Griff has reminded the people of the Republic that, “we are all in this together” during his first morning address. However, the Chancellor has yet to explain any plans to fix or halt the damages of the recession, the Government refusing to make any comment on the matter, leaving industrial leaders in panic.

Despite the call for unity from the Chancellor, strikes, disorder and riots have only increased in number. In the worst affected regions, such as the industrialised mid and outer rim, Galactic Governors have been providing foodstuffs and low-paid work for the poorest in society. Holonews had the chance to speak with Laa’ken Ruun, Senator and Galactic Governor of Bothan Space and the Hutt Border, who was busy personally handing out fruit to malnourished Twi’lek families while being interviewed.

“It’s horrible what crises we find ourselves in with the Republic’s leadership, and I truly feel for the suffering of so many that have not only lost work, but will be forced to poverty for, what could be a fatal amount of time.

Importantly, he commented on the Chancellor’s lack of social reform, despite a long term of office and re-election, stating: “The Republic must do more for social reform and centralisation. The people of the Republic deserve more opportunity than to live in squalor, especially with so many ‘fatcats’ on Coruscant.”

Governor Ruun, following a platform that has frequently advocated Galaxy-wide social reform and centralisation, has found himself becoming more and more popular in many areas of the Galaxy. However, intellectuals and politicians have criticised Governor Ruun for ‘populism’ and ‘inciting industrial unrest’. Senator Sadon Arkanus, an ex-Navy Admiral named the ‘Battle-Axe of Bastion’, has been a vocal critic of Governor Ruun, as well as several others he has deemed “the Republic’s silent Oligarchs.”

In an exclusive interview from his private estate on Coruscant, Senator Arkanus explained: “The work of the Republic’s silent Oligarchs has only served to undermine the Republic politically, and economically. There is a class of hard working, deserving, key industrialists based around the Galaxy, that are having to make necessary cutbacks, but are being squeezed by the boot of Cartel-like Governors, playing at being a part of the Republic.”

374.06 // War on Kiffu!

The planet Kiffu, home of the Kiffar people, is in a state of civil war! Chief Vara Zow’kem, leader of the Zow’kem clan, declared herself ruler of the system, and wars clans that reject her claim.

Zow’kem does not have the support of Kiffar’s elder clans such as the Vos and Tai’qua. Divulged in a press conference with Republic intelligence this morning, Chief Zow’kem has allegedly allied herself with Kiffar’s plentiful obscure, smaller clans, amalgamating into a credible threat. Chief Vara Zow’kem garnered her support by promising fairer representation and resources to the smaller clans.

In an emergency session of congress, senator Varu Vos, senator for Kiffu and Kiffex, requested aid from the Republic senate to resolve the conflict. The senate is currently voting on the issue and is expected to reach an answer in the coming days.

371.11 // Terrorist Thwarted!

News From The Mandalorian Sector.

A local terrorist plan was put to an end thanks to a handful of Mandalorian Protectors.

In the early hours of last evening, a large baradium explosive was detected and located at the base of the Ordo Estate in the capital city Keldabe. Thanks to the quick thinking of several Protectors, the explosive was disarmed and removed from the facility.

Mandalore the Rebuilder himself was to be having a meeting on the following day with several of the Mandalorian Clan Chieftans, to discuss ongoing economic and political sanctions. The meeting has been publicized greatly because it was the first time Mandalore has called his chieftans in to a meeting in several years.

No details on the terrorist who planned the attack, and no organizations have came forward claiming the plan. We will keep you updated on this potentially ongoing story.

371.10 // On the Hunt!

Traces of a series of unmarked ship have been picked up on scanners travelling in through Republic Space then out to Wild Space using the major trade route, the “corellian run” (Believed to be Sector S-19) and the Unknown Regions. Recently the Republic have deployed a team of Republic SpecOps forces to intercept one of these unmarked vessels. Though it has been two cycles and the Republic haven’t received word from the SpecOps team.

This image was captured of the republic cruiser that was sent before it was deployed.

With that the Commander-in-chief of the Republic Military has left us with his statement:

“This matter will be dealt with professionally and swiftly; I formally want to apologise to the families and say that I am confident in our abilities to find out exactly what has happened. We are already looking to deploy an intercepting fleet made up of x1 Indictator cruiser supplemented with the Fleet from Cressel with Admiral. Deyren Ulor at the helm. I can assure you, We’ll snuff out the unmarked vessel… atleast within the next cycle”

We’ll keep you updated as more news is revealed

370.02 // Mandalorian Farms Have Record Year

Speaking from his family home on Concord Dawn, Mandalore the Rebuilder, Asdral Gev, mentions the high yields and profits from the Mandalorian farm worlds.

“This past year, with the help of our allies in both the Republic and the Empire, we have been able to bolster our crop production by more than double. We are committed to continue our part of the treaties we have, with not only assisting in rebuilding war torn planets, but also resupplying them.”

Mandalore has been making trade deals and working with several neighboring planets to help bolster this agricultural growth, as well as help from a new division of MandalMotors, MandalAgriProductions. A large number of immigrants have been noted moving to work in Mandalorian space as well.

The Mandalorians previously signed treaties with both major galactic states, assuring their help in rebuilding Imperium ravaged planets in exchange for open trading routes.

While still struggling, the Mandalorian government has almost doubled their gross galactic product.
