282.05 // Senate Measure 8062297C Passes Amidst Strengthening Pressures

Taris

Chief of State Caden Aquitenne

As only one of several controversial measures that have been proposed in recent years, Measure 8062297C (which would allow the enlistment of 16 and 17 year old minors into the ranks of the Galactic Coalition Military) seemed destined to be the first of its kind to fail. With its dismal approval among most Opposition Senators, the bill was morbidly laughable for a time, as it was often scoffed in the midst of more important discussions. However, as time went on and worlds continued to fall, a sentiment of reconsideration began to pop in luminescence over the heads of many politicians.

Eventually the process snowballed, as vote by vote Chief Aquitenne began to see his vision grow closer to reality, as it at last formed into the decisive 60% vote of approval, much in thanks to the maneuvers of conservative-leaning Moderates. In some form of irony, or perhaps simple sadness, it took the failures of the Coalition in order to create victory for its own Commander in Chief. Indeed, the debate at last subsided with muddled grudges and stammering disbelief.

While the measure keeps the Coalition Military a strictly volunteer force, many question if the influx of young men and women will make a significant impact in the war effort at all. Some contend that for many species the age is too limiting in physical and especially mental preparation for the horrors of war, while many say that the use of specialized droids would be more effective. Others take another path, procuring the possibility that the fault lies with the poor leadership of executive officers from world to world, and that the highest among them should be replaced quickly by Chief Aquitenne in order to gain a fresher outlook of the continued struggles in the Outer Rim.

Despite the second-guesses and pensive wonderings of civilians and politicians alike around the Galaxy, the fact remains that our lives are quickly changing in this tumultuous existence, and we should thus be ever more ready to embrace the possibilities of the vast expansion around us shifting verily in an instant. For, even in the greatest of moments, the history of our ancestors has strayed in single instances, changing the plural outlooks of this great civilization forever. Stay strong, fellow sentients. Stay strong.

281.23 // Centares Successfully Defended by the Coalition

Centares

Coalition Vehicles Firing in the Midst of Battle

Victory in the Centares System!

After almost a cycle of heavy fighting and nearly constant battle on the surface of Centares, the Mandalorians are withdrawing their fleet out of the system. This victory brings a light of hope to the current situation, as the Coalition has felt defeat after defeat in the wake of the Mandalorian and Ascendancy fleets.

The victory was spearheaded by the 767th Armored Calvary, led by two unknown Jedi commanders. The beginning of the battle seemed to be typical of the war so far, with the Mandalorian forces easily taking control of many key points. However, with the timely arrival of the Jedi commanders and their key decisions along with support from the Coalition’s 986th Mobile Infantry and the 4th Naval fleet controlling the orbit, victory was found through the turmoil.

While the victory is being celebrated, thousands of soldiers are being mourned, as the first days of battle seemed to be a slaughter on both sides. An estimated four thousand casualties on solely the Coalition side, with an untold amount of Mandalorian casualties. The Coalition have had many defeats in this war so far, we are all seeking more victories to bring light to the troubled times so far.

281.21 // Battle of Muunilinst Results in Coalition Loss, Hazim Kisi Purportedly Killed

Muunilinst Falls to the Chiss Ascendancy

Muunilinst Falls to the Chiss Ascendancy

In a stunning turn of events, this morning, Coalition commanders reported the loss of Muunilinst in the Obstrexta sector of the Outer Rim Territories. Although some military analysts had predicted victory for the Coalition on Muunilinst, at least for the remaining duration of this year, initial reports on the ground estimate that the Ascendancy arrived with a force approximately double that of the Coalition, and were able to manuever the battlefield far more effectively than the emplaced Coalition brigades. In a battle that lasted just a few days, it is estimated that over 6,500 Coalition forces were made casualties of war before the full retreat was ordered by Maj. Gen. Barin to Kalee to reenforce ailing numbers of troops on the surface.

The Galactic markets dipped sharply by three percent following the news. Muunilinst was considered a major asset to the Coalition financial sector, with many incorporated businesses and trade routes relying on the planet for their continued success. Further speculation has not been offered by any of the spokespeople for the major brokerages.

To worsen the news, it has been reported that Hazim Kisi, star Smashball player turned Coalition private, has been killed in the action on Muunilinst. The cause of his death is reported to be unknown at this time, with conflicting stories being presented: some present claim enemy bombardment took his life, others say friendly fire. Whichever the case, it remains clear tonight that the Galaxy will be in mourning for Kisi, a hero on the sports field, and now a hero of war, a hero in death. Let his inspiration, however short, lead us through these dark days.

This is Galactic HoloNews, keeping you updated throughout the Galaxy. Stay tuned.

281.18 // Ascendancy Ranks Show Visible Diversification

Human Ascendancy

Human Soldiers in the Ascendancy Ranks

The Galactic Coalition Military has released significant evidence showing that the typical red eyes and pale blue faces of the Ascendancy infantry are not as dominating as they once were. Official photos taken by Coalition scout units have demonstrated that possibly thousands of non-Chiss (mostly Human) soldiers have been integrated into the ranks of the Ascendancy, likely the products of conquered worlds in the vicinity of the Outer Rim Territories.

This news surfaces as something well short of a shocking impact, as the plausibility of drafting subjugated citizens into the Ascendancy services has often been a point of casual speculation amongst informed viewers. What remains a point of discussion however is the means by which these individuals were accepted into the enemy ranks. Did they do so willingly? Were they brainwashed? Are these individuals serving to protect their families, or simply backing the winning team?

Regardless of the likely various reasons for the diversification of Ascendancy forces, Coalition High Command has quickly stood behind a policy of no tolerance for the obviously new additions to the opposing forces in a statement made in conjunction with the release of official photos:

As unfortunate as this developing evidence may be, we must treat every individual in an enemy uniform on the battlefield as if they were born in the heart of Csilla herself. Terms of surrender will remain consistent however, and any such individual who surrenders shall be treated with the same civilized respect endowed by our understanding leadership throughout the duration of this entire conflict.
