463.11 // Jedi Delegates Receive Frosty Welcome to Annual Senatorial Youth Forum

Galactic Core, reporting from Coruscant …

The annual Senatorial Youth Forum, a gathering of young activists and party members, unfolded this week in the grand chamber of the Republic Senate. Jointly organised by the Centrist and Diplomat youth branches, the forum has become a fixture of the political calendar, offering a stage for spirited debate and civic engagement.

Members of the Jedi Order were in attendance at this year’s event, including a youth contingent from the Duneeden Temple. But what was thought to be an important olive branch between the Republic and the Order quickly became a source of tension.

Senator Makel Neer, who chaired the proceedings, opened the mock-senate hearing to a contentious motion attacking the Jedi delegation. Factions within the Centrist and Diplomat parties formed a surprise-coalition, arguing that the Jedi’s unilateral military actions undermined Republic diplomacy and compromised the strategic objectives of the core worlds.

However, young delegates from both parties argued against the motion, praising the Jedi’s historic role in safeguarding peace and justice.

The Jedi delegates, Kaddigan Thorne and Vira Izu also spoke against the motion, joined by their fellow Padawan Learners Lev’kahn Ivor and Vriddhym Samadhi. In their remarks, the Jedi emphasised cooperation, while pointing out that exclusion was against the very principle of the event.

In the end, the motion failed, but the controversy has already become the defining moment of this year’s Youth Forum.

The event organisers are yet to confirm if the Jedi Order will be invited again next year.
