473.30 // Jedi-led “Task Force Indigo” assembles to protect the Rim

CORUSCANT, 473.30 – A Jedi-led naval task force has begun to assemble in orbit over Coruscant, amid fears of a large-scale pirate attack in the Mid Rim.

“Task Force Indigo” was reformed by the Galactic Senate under Jedi command after the original task force was destroyed in a pirate ambush at Rettna IV. Negotiations are currently taking place between the Jedi Order and its allies to finalise details of the task force’s operations. Diplomats from the Hapes Consortium, as well as corporate leaders from the Outer Rim, were spotted en route to attend these negotiations.

The Chancellor’s office has said the task force had the government’s full support, however critics claim that it has not provided sufficient resources to achieve its military objectives.

During an address to the Senate, the Chancellor refused to address accusations of “severe political tensions” between the government, task force, Jedi Order, and the Republic Navy in the Rim.

Chancellor Malvero told the Senate that he would “continue to take every possible measure to preserve the safety and integrity of the Republic against the colossal threats it faces.”

Senators raised questions over the deepening rift between the government and the Mid and Outer Rim, after the declaration of the ‘Anti-Piracy Volunteer Front of Chalacta’, an extralegal militia which has denounced Chancellor Malvero’s government for “abandoning the Rim”.

Several decommissioned warships were discovered to have been transferred to the extralegal Chalactan Volunteer Front, which is believed to be supported by several ex-military personnel and Republic Navy veterans. This has raised alarm among critics in the Senate, who believe that Malvero’s government may be losing control over the Republic Navy.
