Biography

The Ancient Schism & The Union

For thousands of years, the Vyr and Khaan clans waged a bitter blood-feud. This divide persisted through the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, where Khaan fortified the savanna city-trees into immovable shields, while Vyr fought a brutal shadow war in the Frost Veldt. Their ancient war finally ended when Torr (Khaan) and Myrra (Vyr) forged a truce to survive a deadly Kiltik swarm during their solitary Blood Hunts. Their survival blossomed into romance, eventually reuniting the clans. To cement this fragile peace and unify the two clans, this new pride desperately needed a male heir, a hope finally realized with the birth of Torr and Myrra’s third cub, Shadd.

The Weight of the Pride

His eldest sister, Thyra, the pride’s new Hunt-Mistress, embodied their father’s strength and honor. She did her best to teach her little brother the ways of the hunt, hoping to bring forth his confidence. Unfortunately, crushed by the constant reminder of what his birth brought and the overwhelming expectations to become the ultimate Chieftain, young Shadd grew timid. He chose flight over fight, relying instead on his fiercely protective middle sister, Zesh, to be his shield. During a secret hunt in the forbidden cold mountains of Frost Veldt, a branch snapped beneath Zesh. Acting on pure, panicked instinct, Shadd unknowingly tapped into the Force, miraculously slowing her descent mid-air to save her life.

The Call and the Rejection

The siblings kept this a secret until a Jedi Seeker arrived at the city-tree. Chieftain Torr angrily dismissed the stranger, deliberately brushing off the generational tales of the Jedi as mere folklore to keep his son focused on his duties. However, Arbiter Myrra harbored a mother’s intuition. Suspecting the stranger’s arrival involved Shadd, she pressed her children until Zesh finally confessed the truth. In the dead of night, Myrra and Zesh secretly met with this Jedi. Hearing the Seeker’s words, Myrra realized her son’s destiny lay elsewhere. Exercising her supreme spiritual authority, she decreed Shadd was bound for a different Blood Hunt. While the women offered comfort, Torr turned away, presenting his broad back to the boy to hide the sheer agony of losing his only son. A low, rumbling growl escaped the Chieftain—a sound of bitter disappointment in himself at being stripped of the chance to raise his only son as heir. But to five-year-old Shadd, the gesture was clear. Misinterpreting his father’s heartbreak as absolute rejection, the cub pinned his ears flat against his head and boarded the vessel.
