Lesca Thorn
Homeworld: Corellia
Species: Human
Biography
Lesca’s childhood was, by most measures, fairly mundane. Her parents, Sela and Alec Thorn, operated a modest same-day delivery service on Corellia, specializing in exotic perishable foods. The business was never particularly profitable, but it paid the bills and kept their aging YT-1250 freighter—the Icebox—in good condition. The ship doubled as both their livelihood and their home, permanently docked in a bay that served as the family’s yard. Extensively modified with refrigerated compartments, the Icebox carried rare goods across the local system.
Life for Lesca was slow and sometimes dull, filled with routine maintenance and long waits between delivery calls. Still, she remembered it as a happy time.
Everything changed the night her Uncle Sal visited. Sal owned the docking facility where the Icebox was berthed and ran a successful freight operation of his own. His visits were common, usually accompanied by jokes about stopping by to see his “favorite niece.” This time, however, something was different. After speaking quietly with Alec, the mood among the adults turned tense. A hushed conversation followed that lasted well into the night.
When Lesca woke the next morning, both her parents and the Icebox were gone.
Uncle Sal assured her they would return in a few weeks and promised they would have fun together while they waited. At first, they did. Holo shows, endless junk food, and time with her favorite uncle. But then Sal disappeared as well, leaving the eleven-year-old alone in the docking bay.
Used to entertaining herself, Lesca spent the first couple of days tinkering with spare parts and dismantling datapads, putting them back together with mixed success. On the third morning, a sudden, uneasy feeling urged her to hide. Moments later, a man entered the bay wearing a CorSec uniform. Something about him felt wrong. Lesca stayed hidden until he left, then grabbed what food remained and fled to her uncle’s home.
There she found the real CorSec—investigating the charred remains of Sal’s house. They gently informed her that her uncle had died in the fire.
CorSec’s investigation into Sal’s suspicious business dealings and the disappearance of Lesca’s parents lasted nearly a year. The Icebox had vanished after clearing orbit, and the strange man in the docking bay was never identified. With no family left, Lesca was taken into CorSec’s care, where her knack for dismantling and repurposing technology quickly became well known.
Eventually she was moved to the Star of Coronet, a modified CorSec cruiser used as a mobile command base. Life aboard a starship brought her some comfort. Her future, however, remained uncertain—until the Jedi Nil Zendu arrived requesting permission to dock. During a chance meeting in the mess hall, the Jedi quickly sensed the Force within Lesca. After a small incident involving a poorly maintained starfighter, he offered to take the girl into the Jedi Order’s care, giving her a new path forward.
