Kara Sol’fyre was born in 459 ABY on the planet of Zeltros. She is the daughter of a human father, and Zeltron mother. Kara inherited the emotional sensitivity, or empathy, common among Zeltrons from her mother. Though there were signs, even when she was very young, that this went beyond natural empathy. She was able to sense fear before it was spoken, or recognize anger behind the most practiced smiles. Kara’s family dismissed much of it as instinct, unaware that Kara possessed a connection to the Force.

For Kara, the Jedi were little more than distant stories. The devastation of the previous century had essentially erased the Jedi from public life. The destruction of the Coruscant branch, the war against the Imperium, and the final catastrophe on Coruscant in 350 ABY forced the Jedi into secrecy. Though more than a century later, Recruiters and Watchmen of the Order still traveled across the galaxy, quietly, searching for Force-sensitive children who might have otherwise never known who they were.

In 471 ABY, when Kara was twelve years old, one such recruiter arrived on Zeltros. This Jedi noticed Kara during a crowded public event, common on Zeltros. Amid the overwhelming emotions of the hundreds of people, Kara was visibly distraught. Curious, the recruiter observed her, and later approached her family.

A series of discrete tests confirmed what this Jedi had suspected. This being that Kara was Force-sensitive, with an unusually strong awareness of the emotions of those around her.

To say her parents were hesitant, was an understatement. The Order had remained secretive, and had a history filled with war and sacrifice. Sending their twelve-year-old daughter away was no small decision. Kara, however, wanted to understand the strange presence she had felt throughout her still short life, and to get full understanding and handling of her empathetic nature.

With reluctant blessings of her mother and father, Kara left Zeltros aboard the recruiters ship. For one of the Order’s hidden Jedi Temples.
