Hoshi is a bright individual who spent his younger years in the loving care of his mother and father. Coming from a wealthy family of influence, both of his parents taught Hoshi different skills which could help him later in life. His father, Kenshin Akari, spent his mornings sparring with a very young Hoshi using wooden swords. Hoshi loved hearing the stories of the Yovshin swordsmen and often daydreamed that he was one such swordsman in the stories. While his father gave him a basic understanding of the beginnings of Martial arts, his mother worked with her hands on intricate tapestries and paintings, and while Hoshi had no interest in sewing or painting, Mizu Akari (Hoshi’s mom), was able to buy kits for small projects to build. This led to an early development in the interest of Artisanry.

On Hoshi’s twelfth birthday, he was given a kit for a skim board, and ecstatically began to construct it. The pieces took a bit of time to assemble, but after some testing, Hoshi got the skim board running. As soon as he could, he took the board outside to test fly it. Those test flights left Hoshi a little bruised from the attempts, but he did not give up on it. Eventually, Hoshi was able to handle the board, and fly it competently. He loved the feeling of freedom that the hoverboard granted him. He loved the feeling of the wind in his face, and the feeling of flight, even when he could not go beyond a certain point or above a certain speed set by his parents.

However, Hoshi was not without his mischievous side. His mind was full of questions, and he had bad impulse control. This led to Hoshi sneaking out of the house one night to try a few things on his skim board. He wanted to see if he could go off a ramp, and he knew his family didn’t want him to try such a risky maneuver. So, without the sight of his parents, and in cover of night, Hoshi left the house by climbing out of the window that led to his room, down some vines which could hold his weight, and took his hoverboard for a flight under the stars.

Things seemed to run smoothly until eventually, Hoshi was getting tired from the physical exertion of the night ride, and he headed back to the house, only to find it lit up in flames! He could hear the screams of his parents as they were calling for him, and in the distance, he believed he saw a cloaked figure walk away in the shadows, but he could not make out the shape of the figure or any details. All he knew is that his family was calling for him, and there was no way he could get to them. Eventually, the flames, and the noise fell silent. The smell was horrendous, and in the ashes of the wreckage, he saw his parents in his room. They had searched for him, believing him to be asleep. They did not know he was out of the house.

Hoshi now carried the sadness of the loss of his parents, and the guilt of sneaking out. He clutched his hoverboard and ran away crying. He ran to the nearest town, of which he knew the location of from going to school there, as well as grocery shopping with his mom, and he sat at an alley, trying to figure something out. He clutched his hoverboard and curled into a ball.

Seeing such an emotional scene, or by the will of the Force, a hooded figure approached Hoshi, however, this figure held no ill intent towards the boy. In fact, Hoshi got a calming feeling coming from the stranger. After lowering his hood, the jedi explained that he was a watchman, and reassured Hoshi that someone would look into the mystery of what happened to his home. After Hoshi explained that he had no one else to go to, the watchman brought the boy to the praxeum….
