Gand were not a species of individualists, those that deigned to stand apart from the others tended to either turn out heroes or as abberations against Gandkind. Unfortunately for this specific specimen, his hive did not tolerate the possibility of abberation.

This specific Gand was a simple labor drone, its’ purpose simple, to lift things and carry them to where they needed to go. Just like it’s countless brothers and sisters The Gand carried out its’ duties with dilligence and honor. Unfortunately however This Gand was also quite strange.

The Gand claimed that he could speak with rocks and stones, that they could warn of oncoming danger when one spoke to them correctly, This Gand’s warnings would fall upon deaf ears at first, but when a mining accident trapped a dozen Gand drones beneath the surface of their homeworld, This Gand spoke with the stone again, and knew of a way out for the hive-kin.

Still, the adult Gand said no, and unwilling to risk the delusions of an abberant drone, left the trapped to die. This Gand did not accept this, and went against the will of the hive. The Gand found a way to get to the trapped survivors and more importantly, lead them away from the collapse.

This Gand had thought he had done a good thing, he thought he had been a hero, perhaps even able to take a name of his own. Little did he know, that his abberant nature and inability to follow The Hive’s orders without question marked him as a threat to the hive.

This Gand ran away, barely managing to escape the Findsmen of his hive by hiding in a cargo shuttle bound for one of the trade-stations in orbit of the planet of Gand. There The Force’s will had brought a Jedi Knight, waylaid for a different reason, who saw great potential in This Gand and took him to the Duneeden temple for evaluation as a hopeful.
