Biography

Heirs inherited, second sons soldiered and third sons took to spiritual callings, as universally observed. However, the fourth-born were often overlooked, and Azar was no different. Reared by the Ahlan clan, a strict and traditional family unit of Mirialans residing on Taskeed, Azar Ahlan was the youngest of an exemplary litter. The Mirialan clans here were far and wide, mingling until they became the governing body of the planet. However, they still clung to their cultural identity and still practiced their faith, despite the centuries away from home and other external influences.

Within his formative years, the young Mirialan experienced a great deal of autonomy and neglect, in favour of his stellar siblings that outperformed him in their respective roles within their clan, an unfortunate combination that sowed rebellion and a fiery temper. With a penchant for trouble that often placed him in the crosshairs of his prideful progenitor, it was not long until he found a pack of friends who all competed against each other to be the most rowdiest. Together, they’d accost strangers with sticks in a challenge for a mock bout, vandalised property and ditched obligations to pilfer grub from the market. Gradually, Azar fell out favour from his family, his only saving grace that he still sought penance through worship of the Force.

Discovery
Swayed by his posse of ne’er-do-wells, Azar was volunteered to be the distraction on this particular occasion. They had the intention to perform a poorly concocted pickpocket scheme against another Mirialan donning foreign, garish attire and jewellery. All seemed to be according to plan until one of his accomplices made the move to race in to swipe something and in turn, Azar’s wrist was snatched. The huddle of boys cleared immediately and ultimately, he was left to pay the price. Oddly enough, however, the stern stranger let him go after a cursory warning.

The following day, the same man paid Azar’s clan a visit and revealed himself to be a Jedi Watchman by the name of Navigra Leno. He noted Azar as possessing the innate ability to control the Force and administered the traditional test of toys to confirm his suspicions. While the Ahlan clan were not fond of the idea initially, reluctant to part ways with one of their own, Navigra managed to warm them up to the idea. Soon, Azar was whisked abroad a shuttle and jettisoned far from home.

Time at Ossus
Azar’s start was rocky, to say the least. Throughout his tenure at Ossus, he received many infractions; from petty things like insulting his fellow students to physical fights, most of which were started by himself. His temper cooled a little after multiple disciplinary actions taken upon him, resolving to isolating himself as he honed his innate ability.

His mastery of the Force was a little shaky as he was only beginning to acclimate, coupled with his initial troubles at the Ossus Temple. He progressed fairly decently, albeit within isolation as he honed and worked on his craft. However, his time at the Ossus was short-lived, for the very same man that brought him to the Jedi Order took Azar under his wing.

Life as a Padawan
Navigra’s tutelage was less than stellar. A Mirialan that shunned his heritage and driven by monetary gains. The pair found themselves within unsavoury sectors of the Galaxy, mixing with shady figures and partaking in under-the-table deals in order to investigate criminal elements. Azar brushed elbows with heinous figures, entering the dens of deplorable and dour characters. However, Azar’s time with his mentor was abruptly cut short when it was discovered that Navigra was self-serving, rather than to the Jedi Order, as he filled his coffers with credits.

New Beginnings
With the exile of his former mentor and his previous dilemma fitting in with his peers at Ossus, the Council made the call to transfer him to the Duneeden Temple, hoping that a change of pace and a fresh start will undo what has been a tumultuous and troubling training.
