Avery Seidiger
Homeworld: Arkania
Species: Arkanian
Biography
Avery Seidiger was born on Arkania into a family that lived far from the wealthy genetic dynasties that dominated much of Arkanian society. The Seidigers worked in the quieter professions that kept the planet functioning through its endless winters. His father maintained long-range weather arrays along the ice plains, often spending weeks away from the cities repairing frozen sensor towers. His mother worked as a registrar for an off-world shipping guild, translating trade records and navigation reports from visiting freighter crews.
Years before Avery’s birth, his parents had another son named Kellan. Kellan was intelligent and curious, but he suffered from a rare neurological disorder that slowly weakened his body. Many Arkanians viewed illness as something to be corrected through wealth, status, or genetic engineering, but the Seidigers refused illegal enhancement treatments they believed would fundamentally alter who their son was. Kellan died at the age of eight, leaving the family quieter and more withdrawn afterward.
Avery grew up in the shadow of that loss. His parents never hid their grief from him, and as a result he became unusually perceptive for a child. He learned to listen carefully, to notice tension in a room, and to comfort others without being asked. While many Arkanians prized superiority and emotional distance, Avery inherited his parents’ softer view of the galaxy.
The Jedi first noticed him during a routine Republic census stop in one of Arkania’s northern settlements. A violent ice storm had cut power to several homes, and panic spread quickly through the district. Amid the confusion, six-year-old Avery calmly guided frightened residents through the dark corridors of a failing habitation block, somehow knowing which passages were safe before emergency crews arrived. Witnesses later claimed the child moved through the blackout as though he could already see the danger before it happened.
The visiting Jedi Knight sensed the Force in him almost immediately.
Though terrified of losing another son, Avery’s parents ultimately allowed him to leave for Jedi training. They believed the Jedi Order might offer him something Arkania never truly could: a life measured not by perfection or status, but by wisdom, discipline, and compassion.
