Foundations

Established by the Lianna Accords in 446, the Thanium Alliance is a coalition of the primary political, cultural, and industrial centers of the sector. The various planets of Thanium are disparate and fail to see eye-to-eye on most any issue which prevented them from establishing a sector-wide government through to today. The creation of the Alliance was a necessity precipitated by the invasion of the sector’s ancestral enemy, the Stenax of the neighboring Spadja sector.

Governmental Structure

The Alliance is not a civil or political entity, but rather a mutual defense agreement established by the various worlds of Thanium within the Lianna Accords. A loose Security Council was established after the closing of the Thanium Crisis in order to maintain some level of cohesion given the militant and expanding Third Estate that resided along their northwestern border.

Alliance Security Council

The Security Council is made up of the four most influential planets in the sector: Thanium, Galidraan, Kadril, and Tharkos. These planets represent the political, military, technological, and industrial centers of the sector as a whole respectively. These four systems oversee the Starlight Corps, the sector security force led by the Stenax captain Lagyanes Bendix, as well as cooperatively enforce the provisions of the Lianna Accords.

Starlight Corps

Beginning as a paramilitary group dedicated to keeping the sector safe before the signing of the Lianna Accords, the Starlight Corps is led by the Stenax Captain Lagyanes Bendix. A firm believer in reform for his people, Lagyanes fought to defend his home in Thanium from the militant wing of the Stenax government who provoked war in Thanium. Going against his own homeworld, Lagyanes helped coordinate the defense of Thanium against what he saw as his homeworld government going rogue.

The Thanium Crisis

In the early 440s, the Thanium Sector began seeing a massive increase in Hutt sponsored pirate and smuggling activity. It would be later revealed that the Third Estate had been paying the Ice-Flame Chamber Hutt Cartel to smuggle weapons to a militant group on the planet Stenos. Around 4ABY, the Stenax species from Stenos perpetuated a series of massacres versus the beings of Thanium. With this ancient, ancestral threat renewed, the Third Estate aimed to coerce the planets of Thanium into willingly annexing themselves into the Third Estate for protection.

Because of Jedi intervention, however, the Thanium Worlds were able to establish an Alliance and defend their sector with the frontline settling along the planets of Felucia, Mossak, and Draukyze. After many cycles of intense warfare, the Stenax lines broke and the Stenax were pushed out of the Thanium Sector while the Third Estate leveraged the opportunity to invade the Spadja Sector under the pretense of  a “peacekeeping operation.”
