Biography

Eliana Bellwater was born on 468.18 ABY in Monta Mira, a small mountain village on Lannik, to Alyna Bellwater and Krik Hoopa. The small community around the Monta mountain was unusual by the standards of broader Lannik culture. They were a peaceful folk who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and just wanted to stay out of trouble. Most of them were either moofherders or farmers, and Eliana’s family was no different. As was common in this particular rural society, she grew up in a household with one sister, five half-sisters, and all of their shared parents under one roof. The ones who were old enough all worked in the kebroot fields, where they produced a special variant of kebroot that had grown there for so long that no one could remember a time when it was different.

For most of her early childhood, Eliana stayed in the village and played with the other children. She was interested in the stars, and would often try to sneak out in the early morning to watch them before the sun came up. And although there weren’t many animals around Monta Mira, she loved everything that moved and could spend hours sitting with the little furry bramlows that lived just a short distance up the mountain.

One day, not too long after Eliana had turned five by Galactic standards, she and her mother went to the nearby market in Tenna, a small town about a quarter day’s walk from Monta Mira. By coincidence, on the very same day, a Jedi decided to have a layover on the planet and was also in Tenna. During a skarrl exhibition, Eliana climbed a barrel to get a better view, tripped, and was knocked unconscious. While she was unconscious, she drew the attention of a nearby moof, which broke free from its enclosure and in turn set the skarrl loose. The moof attacked the skarrl, and the disturbance attracted the Jedi, who apprehended the skarrl and put it back into its cage. Eliana and her mother were brought to the Jedi’s ship, where the Jedi explained the situation to Eliana’s mother. Her mother understood Eliana’s presumed Force sensitivity to be a sign that there was something greater in her future than becoming a kebroot farmer. With Eliana’s consent, her mother entrusted her to the Jedi’s care.
