Foundations

Founded by four leading planets during the Wyld Conflict, Svivren which was voted the capital, Skynara, Alzoc III, and Ryloth, the League of Sovereign Systems is a Democratic Republic with a bicameral legislature. The leader of the League of Sovereign Systems (LSS) is a President, with their first president being Zebulon Pyke, the primary Admiral during the Wyld Conflict.

Governmental Structure

The President of the LSS is elected by the member planets who have a number of ‘votes’ relative to their population. The number of votes that the planet specifically gives to each candidate if proportional to the popular vote from that planet.

The Upper Chamber of their legislature consists of one representative from each of the four founding worlds, while the Lower Chamber consists of representatives from worlds that join later. Both chambers must pass the same version of any bill, which is then sent to the President to sign.

They have an independent Judiciary led by a High Court. Each planet has a federal court judge that oversees criminal cases. Civil cases and certain criminal cases are handled by local, planetary judges.

Political Parties

The two founding political parties are the “Sector Party” and the “Planetary Party.”

  • The Sector Party wants to reform the legislature to reflect sector-wide representation, modeled after the Galactic Republic. The Sector Party seeks to allow more members and sectors to join the LSS and expand their territorial presence in the geopolitical sphere of the Galaxy.
  • The Planetary Party advocates for maintaining planetary representation only in the legislature. The Planetary Party is fairly isolationist, seeking to maintain the current cohesion of the LSS and cement their institutions now, rather than allow for expansion and the joining of more systems and sectors.
