Biography
Born 449 ABY on Pantora, Koh spent her childhood in Vaal Tura, a mountain city carved into the cliffs where the air outside her mask would kill her in minutes. She grew up with the hiss of her own breathing in her mask, the sting of cold biting through gloves, and the knowledge that survival here came from steady, exhausting work. Her family, the Seydas, had left Dorin generations earlier, drawn to Pantora’s deep gas mines — one of the few places beyond their homeworld where their native atmosphere could be found. They refined the gases for their sealed homes and sold the surplus to Kel Dor enclaves in the high peaks, as well as freighters bound for distant systems.
Pantorans handled the trade offices, Ortolans did the heavy excavation, Talz carried goods along snowbound passes, and the Seydas kept the refining plants running and mapped the safest routes through the mountains. Koh had just begun learning her father’s charts when a robed stranger arrived. He stayed longer than most off-worlders, asking her parents many questions and a few to her directly. He set her small tasks — stacking stones in patterns, listening for sounds with her eyes closed, solving puzzles that twisted her mind. The questions felt like games, but his gaze was steady, as if he was searching for something hidden between each answer. Before leaving, he invited her to visit a temple off-world for a closer evaluation.
When the thaw came and the passes opened, her parents packed her best coat and fresh mask filters. Cousins brought charms for luck, and her uncle walked her all the way to the shuttle pad. She turned back more than once, waving until her family were only distant shadows in the snow.
