Biography

Act 1 – Origin

450 ABY – In the vast open region of space, a salvaging ship of the hauler class would drift from sector to sector, in search of wreckages which would be placed aboard the vessel to cut the materials down for credits. The oscillating engines drone through the silence of the vacuum.

A dangerous expedition for any space-faring person due to the unexpected nature of each operation, most often losing personnel because of various problems that occur during the salvaging of ships.

A pair of humans board the hauler, looking to earn their keep. A husband and wife hand in hand join the crew. The husband being an engineer that would keep the hauler’s systems operational and in working order with the parts that were acquired during expeditions, whilst the excess would be sold to the highest bidder.

The wife would be a seasoned doctor that cared for the injuries of those unfortunate crew members that got hurt on the job. Working long hours, and often led rehabilitation efforts for the crew that were fortunate enough to not lose their lives.

It was back-breaking work for both of them. Always something to do, always something breaking, or people getting injured or dying. The stress built up over the course of the year, but as long as they had each other, they could take on the world, as their love was what kept them going, kept them strong. And soon, their love would usher in a new life to the world in their private moments.

The husband overjoyed once that bump was evident on his wife’s stomach, they celebrated with the crew, throwing a small party in the honor of the first ever child to be brought into this world in that clunker. And over the course of nine months, the husband did work even harder, to make ends meet to support his new family, but with that good news…There will always be a darker side to the story.

Act 2 – A forlorn first breath

451 ABY – As the due date approached, and spirits were high, the doctor now became the patient. Once the water broke, she was brought to the medical facility. Laid on the table, and comm-links buzzing to call on the husband to rush to her side. Dropping everything he was doing, it didn’t take even a few minutes for him to speedily reach his loving wife.

Holding her hand as contractions got more frequent, the childbirth had some complications. And even the medical droids along with the limited staff tried their hardest, as it went on for six long hours, with the pained screams from the wife echoing through the medical facility, penetrating even through the ships’ corridors.

With all of her strength she gathered, the child would be brought out into the world, as the machines attached to the child’s mother started to flatline. No amount of treatment or emergency resuscitation was successful in bringing that pulse back. The wife departed this existence with a smile, and tears in her eyes that streaked down her face.

With the medical droid picking the child up, to show it to it’s father, it revealed ‘It’s a healthy baby boy’. The engineer could not even see the child, as he held his wife’s hand, sobbing and screaming. His beloved, gone. His face buried in her neck, as the ships’ energy changed. A foreboding silence and grief, only pierced by the first cry of the child once it took it’s first breath.

A few days after the tragic loss, the husband was enveloped by depression and anger. A bitter taste in his mouth, resenting the child for taking his only person in the world he cared about, and it didn’t take long for him to turn to alcohol to drown out the sorrow that he felt so intensely.

Not to mention that his job was highly stressful from the beginning of his tenure as an engineer, making sure the hauler does not cave in on itself due to how old it was.

Act 3 – Virulent feelings

Due to the nature of his birth, having only resent shown by his only parent, Vallick grew up isolated. Only allowed outside of his room when emergencies were issued during the expeditions. His cerulean pearls watching and observing the crew. Not experiencing any sort of kindness. His only friend, the port window through which he observed the stars and planets pass by, as they’ve gone from sector to sector.

As he was among the stars even before he was born, outside influences from old derelict ships, planets and galaxy-wide phenomena, he was able to connect with people on an emotional level. He could feel the seething rage in his father’s eyes every time he came to their quarters inebriated.

A reminder of the cause of his wife’s death staring back at him in terrified glances. Vallick usually remained curled up in a corner, to make himself as small as a pebble. If he didn’t, well…That’s when the horror would happen. Beatings so savage, that even the crew were aware of, but didn’t do anything to stop them from happening. He didn’t get hit in the face, to keep up appearances. But from the neck down, it was an almost daily occurrence for the small boy to experience physical abuse so horrid, his entire body was black and blue.

One time, the beatings were so severe, that he hit the boy across his back, injuring his back completely. Leaving him crooked and impaired. Even his ribs were not saved, sometimes even managing to break a couple of them, which the droid would later have to fix. The terrified screams of the child would be heard a couple of decks over…But no attempts to rescue him were made.

461 ABY – 10 Years went by, until the engineer could not take it any longer, to look at his own son. Arriving near the sector with the Jedi temple in sight, he decided to abandon his own son, arranging a shuttle to dump him there, thinking that he would be rejected wherever he’d go. Unaware that the temple even existed, only rumors of crazy people in there, that they would sort the child out and that he’d finally be free from the constant reminder and torment that Vallick brought him.

So, with his spirit broken, his body in even worse condition, and cast aside by his only family, he was boarded to the shuttle, and made his first step into the temple’s hangar. Traumatized and terrified as to what awaited him, and his new life on this strange planet with strange people.
