Biography
Born in the capital city of Thani on the peaceful, yet war torn world of Telos IV, Lev’kahn Ivor was born to a Miraluka Father and a Arkanian Offshoot mother. Lev’kahn’s father, Zah’irak Zahra, was a Jedi Knight from Ossus who was a teacher and historian in the Jedi order. Following the Kwymar Defensive, a war he had part and disagreements with the council, Zahra left the order, traveling around the sector before settling down and becoming a teacher and scholar at the prestigous Onasi Preparatory Academy in Thani following his marriage to his wife. Lev’kahn’s mother, Famanti Ivor, had come from an oppressive background. Being an Arkanian Offshoot from Arkania, she and her people were mistearted by their baseline counterparts. Famanti would meet a group of smugglers who would take her and some of her fellow Offshoots off of Arkania to start a new life. Famanti would end up on Telos, working as a teacher in the farm regions of the planet. When the couple married, they moved to Thani where they would work at Onasi. Outside of their academic endeavors, Zahra would collaborate with Kwymars senator and fellow veteran, Steo Aldrich, the former leading figurehead of the Kwymar Defensive. Along with Senator Aldrich would also be other prominent figures in the Kwymar sector that Zahra would collaborate with. Famanti would be part of advocacy groups and charities to help marginalized races, helping to provide shelter and food. The couple had been through a lot in their past and because of these factors, they would have a child, a son, later in life in their fourties. It was Zah’irak’s decision to give Lev’kahn his mothers last name our of love for his wife.
Growing up, Lev’kahn was brought up with the customs and traditions of both of his parents as well as elements of Zahra’s Jedi teachings. Like his father, Lev’kahn was very studious and educated as well as stand up for others. Like his mother, Lev’kahn was taught to be humble and respectful of others in contrast to the ancestral baseline Arkanian species who’ve historically mistreated the Offshoot race.
Although Lev’kahn’s father came from the Jedi Order, he recalled his father having very critical words about them. Saying how he disagreed with many of the methods of the order. Specifically with how passive the order in his mind when it came to the issues that were happening in the galaxy. The Kwymar Defensive still lingered in Zahra’s mind, decades later. Zahra called them “complacent” and “not caring to innocent lives in a time of need”. This led to a years long struggle for Lev’kahn as all he wanted to do was understand his father.
While having a largely peaceful life, Lev’kahn had moments of existential struggle. Aside from being bullied by other students and bigoted individuals, having few close friends in his life. Those close friends being the children of the politicians and political figures close to his parents. This was due to living a mostly sheltered home life due to his parents occasional neuroticism. A result of inherited and generational traumas due to their pasts. Lev’kahn often argue with his father when it comes to philosophical and political discussions and watched his mother argue with his father when Zahra would get emotionally worked up. While Zahra was a skilled diplomat in galactic affairs such as politics, Famanti would be the peacekeeper and diplomat in the family. While being born with eyes like his mother, Lev’kahn was physically blind but had a limited ability to see through the force like his father could. Something he had wished to learn how to improve with his father but that wouldn’t happen given what would come to the Zahra/Ivor home.
A member of the Jedi Order, Shanar Djen, would find the family on Telos while on a diplomatic mission. Shanar had known Zahra since he was an initiate when Zahra was at the end of his padawanhood back on Ossus. Zahra was the young Chagrians go to teacher for learning about history, philosophy, and learning how to use the Force. While never having a padawan, Zahra saw Shanar as a friend. Like Zahra, Shanar also participated in the Kwymar Defensive but was a Padawan at the time. In the decades since Zahra left the order, his old friend had achieved the rank of Knight. The Chagrian Jedi would sense Lev’kahns potential in the Force and pleaded with his old friend to take him to the order for training. Zahra was apprehensive, but accepting that he was unable to shelter him for the rest of his life. Lev’kahn was given the choice by his parents to either join the Jedi Order or remain on Telos in civilian life. Lev’kahn chose to follow in his fathers footsteps and train as a Jedi. Shanar would take Lev’kahn, sharing stories about him and Zahra in the past, showing another side that the boy had never heard before. Unknown to the boy, Shanar would take Lev’kahn to Duneeden where he believed the youngling would have a fair chance at growing and learning without any preconceived stigma or expectations forced on him, given who he is. A new life had started for the young Miraluka/Offshoot.
